There was a kid who never smiled,
Just a grin, inside no fire.
Dead eyes, and deader still,
His happiness seemed, an empty shell.
And all the clowns of the world,
Could never hope to take a drop,
Of laughter, a snicker, none at all.
Just a mannequin,
This boy, who never grins. And so they moved on, the world,
Busy in their charms,
No time, no qualms,
In forgetting him, he's hopeless they say.
And through it all, never gay.
And yet no ill could they say,
He was an umbrella on a rainy day,
To those who knew him, those around,
Those who never abandoned his sound.
For they knew the laughter of one,
Was from the tears of another.
They knew this boy could never,
Laugh, never forever. And so lived the boy who never smiled,
In a way, happily ever after.
Away from the world that only saw,
His face, and never his ways.
