Do you know that feeling where one second you're in the middle of a dream, a dream that could be the best or worst dream of your life, and then all of a sudden your mind is awake and buzzing. That horrible horrible feeling was coursing through me right now. I ripped my eyes open, pretty annoyed that the dream was over and long gone. I don't even remember what I was dreaming about. That dream disappeared faster than Usain Bolt in the 100-meter sprint.
It was oddly bright outside. I looked over to my alarm clock and my eyes buldged. 8:21! Why hadn't my alarm gone off at eight! I slept in! I usually get up at 7:30! That's almost an hour! Oh well no time to dwell on the past, I mean on the plus side I'd gotten almost an hour more sleep than usual.
I quickly swung my legs out of bed and got up. As usual, I looked like shit. So I quickly ran to the bathroom brushed my teeth and washed my face before applying my normal light school makeup. Which just consisted of foundation and mascara; I really didn't see the point in getting all dolled up for school. I wouldn't even put that amount on if I didn't feel like I looked like a troll with no makeup.
I bounded over to my drawers and threw on a quick outfit. My black skinnies and grey t-shirt were comfortable and I was in a rush so I had no time to choose some nicer clothes. I pulled on my white low cut converses and grabbed my phone and backpack before running down the stairs.
I checked the clock on the wall and saw that it read 8:35. I freaked and quickly opened the pantry to grab something to eat. I had to leave in 5 minutes if I wanted to make it on time. There was literally nothing in the pantry, so I grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl.
"I'm leaving! Bye. Love you'se." I called out to my parents and heard them laughing at my expense, probably having seen me running around like a mad man. I still had to pick up Libby. I jumped in the car and started it up.
That's when I heard the beeping. The horrid beeping that my car made when I was very very low on fuel. So low that it wouldn't make the ten minute drive to school without breaking down. See I put off putting petrol so much because I can't stand the smell; it gives me a major headache. But I guess I kind of have to fill up if I don't want to break down. I raced over to the petrol station and filled up my tank. As usual, the smell made my head hurt and I groaned in annoyance. Not only was I wasting time and was going to be late, I was now going to arrive at school with a headache.
When I had payed for my petrol I raced over to Libby's house. Luckily we lived in a quiet town, where there weren't many cops out in the morning because I was most likely breaking many road rules this morning. When I got to Libby's house, I saw her waiting outside for me.
"It's 8:57!" She exclaimed as she got in the car and I sped away.
"I know, my alarm didn't go off and I had to put petrol." I whined. We finally made it to school at 9 on the dot thanks to my speeding. We ran to our lockers, the halls starting to clear as people got into class. I quickly grabbed my books that I needed and Libby and I both ran off in different directions not even saying bye.
I stopped running when I reached the door to the classroom I was in, history. I turned the door handle and opened the door. Inside the classroom, everyone was seated and all eyes were on me. I didn't kill anyone, gosh can they stop staring at me like that?
"You're late, Jade."
"I know, sorry about that. It's been a bad morning." I shrugged and kept my eyes down as I walked over to my seat. She went on to explain the task that we would be completing in pairs.
"Ok, so as I was saying, we will be doing a case study on a chosen revolution in history that shaped the way the society of the time operated."
"So basically we are to do a report on a chosen historical revolution which occurred and changed the society of the time." A girl named Katie spoke up from the back of the room.
