we didn't ask to wake up in a world that was so eternally heartless.
do you think we wanted a sky that was full of pollution and death and darkness?
all we wanna do is laugh with our friends and you don't think that's enough.
but can we be blamed for wanting some hope instead of pretending to be tough?
i've grown up here,
where the sky is never clear,
and if i open my mouth i'll choke.
and it hurts to have fun,
it's hard to be free,
my hand can't be seen through the smoke.
so keep laughing at us
and our stupid jokes,
but we're just trying to escape.
escape from the lies and the hurt and the pain,
can't you see?
you've a throne with a cape.
and when you're gone,
who's got to clean up?
we've already started the job.
do you think we asked for this responsibility?
you were always so quick to dodge.
your death threats mean nothing to us.
what have we got to lose?
we cry for hours while you're in the shower or once again hitting the snooze.
so go ahead!
ruin this world.
and all it has got to give.
because while you are chopping and buying and selling,
your life is running through a sieve.
we'll be here,
not that we want to.
there isn't much of us left.
but we'll rise from the ashes
and try not to be broken
look, we're doing our best.
