It would be an understatement to say that the week had not been eventful. Axel and I were guarding the bridge while the workers, whom we had escorted to the bridge at the break of dawn, were busy building it. Mr. Grinverr was beside Mr. Poimin - helping him whenever necessary. Zoe was using her water magic to cure the concrete.

"Do you sense anything?", I asked Axel since I was not feeling any displacement in the atmosphere.

"No. I can't feel any aura", he replied, leaning against the pillar where we had decided to stand guard. Axel looked back to see if the workers were doing fine.

"So, do you think they will come here today?" I asked as I checked for displacement.

"I am not taking any chances", said Axel and remained quiet for a while.

"I have a doubt", I said, to which Axel looked at me and prompted, "Go on".

"Consider this a hypothetical situation. Something goes down in the village. Since the Warriors of the village are unreliable, what should we do? Should we go to the village, but leave the bridge and the workers unprotected, or should we forget about it?"

Axel looked at the sky and for a while remained silent, as if he was trying to find an appropriate solution. He kept looking at the sky and replied, "If I consider 'this' hypothetical situation of yours is something one person can handle, I would send one of us. But then comes the second question of whom to send. Is this a situation you can handle or is this something I can handle? If I go to see this situation, are you able to handle the protection of the bridge? These type of questions will haunt me and delay my decision. But then comes the second scenario, where we are both needed for 'this' situation. At that time, I have to decide whether to go or not? Will the bridge be okay if we both go to see this problem? This is basically taxing for the brain", he explained.

"So what would you do?" I asked eagerly.

"Idealistically, I would want to check both the situations. But realistically..."

"Realistically?" I asked, encouraging him to continue.

"Realistically, I would be an observer", he replied. I looked at him with disbelief. He then quickly said, "I would watch the situation unfold, and only if required and necessary, would I intervene", to which I nodded in understanding. He then looked at the far end of the bridge and said, "But we don't have to worry. If such a situation arises, I will be ready for both scenarios". I smiled at his confidence, knowing he had everything under his control.

"But you had to jinx it, huh?" Axel said.

"What?" I asked in confusion and turned in the direction he was looking. I saw a girl in her teens running towards us. I quickly brought my guard up and made ready a spell. Axel stopped me from doing that, saying, "Her aura is all over the place. But it is not hostile. I sense panic and fear in it". The girl closed the distance and when she reached us, she stopped and started panting loudly. Axel and I gave her a minute before she regained her breath and she gasped out, "The Gemlock".

"What did Gemlock do?" I asked.

"They are setting up an execution", she said while taking deep breaths.

"WHAT!?" I shout. Axel quickly asked, "Whom are they going to execute?"

"I don't know. They had their faces covered. But all I can say is that it is a woman and a child".

"Axel! We have to go quickly. We can do something", I insisted. He looked at the people behind him who were looking at us, trying to figure out why the girl had come here. He took the deep breath and said to the girl, "Lead the way", to which the girl nodded. She started running and we began following her. As soon as we got off the bridge, Axel shouted, "PROTECT!"
