"So, how did you find me?" I ask as Axel carries me through the flaming corridor. He pulls me closer as flaming debris falls ahead of us, and says, "I thought I had told you that your aura is too bright". He kicks away the debris to clear the path.
"But still, my aura trace was cut off at the warehouse back in the Cathedral district. Also, this place was teleporting every 30 minutes. How did you get here?" I ask as I look into his golden eyes. He remains quiet for a while and says, "I did a void jump".
"You what?" I question in shock.
"Well, I did an out-of-line-of-sight void jump", Axel says as if it was nothing.
"But, you had told me that you couldn't do that", I recall the conversation we had had about void jumps. Axel dodges the falling debris and says, Well, "I guess anger can be a good driving force".
"How did you do it?" I ask as we go down the stairs.
"As you know, I can never forget someone's aura, so I activated my aura sense. I found you immediately, but judging from the intensity of your aura, I deduced that you might be 70-80 miles away. So, to cover that distance in a short time, I entered the Realm of Shadows".
"Come again?" I ask, unable to believe what he just said.
"I entered the Realm of Shadows", Axel states in a matter-of-fact manner.
"How did you break through your shadow?"
"As I said before, anger can be a good driving force", replies Axel.
"How was the Realm?" I ask curiously. Axel jumps through a hole in the floor and we reach the ground floor. He says, "Well, imagine a wide-open space with no ground. It's like swimming in the ocean but everything is a tinge of purple. There were creatures that you don't find in our realm. But, one thing in common is that they had dark colors. They had glowing purple eyes and glowing veins. I also found a skeleton of another dragon".
"I get the picture", I say. What he says next baffles me. He says, "I also found your aura trace there. That was how I was able to get to you".
"How did you find my aura trace in a realm which I have never entered?" I ask, bewildered. Axel shrugs his shoulder and says, "I don't know. There are many things about the Realm of Shadows that I don't know. I am curious too". Axel walks through the main door and we find ourselves outside. The mansion is surrounded by lush green vegetation. I see a group of people holding torches near a well, under an oak tree.
"Axel I am good. I can walk from here", I say and he promptly puts me down. He touches his back and says, "My back! Oww!" I hit his shoulder in annoyance and we started walking towards the group. "That well reminds me of you", I say to Axel.
"How come?" asks Axel. His golden eyes start to fade and gradually get replaced by his characteristic onyx eyes.
"You say 'well' all the time", I say, and Axel's eyebrows furrow. He groans and says, "Don't tell me you joined Freya and Amanda".
"Now that you have mentioned them, I guess I will join them", I say while sticking my tongue out at him. We reach the group near the well. There are ten girls, few elderly people, three middle-aged women, and a dozen kids. They were all bruised up. I guess these were the people who were in the basement.
"Miss Cassie", I hear someone say and see Katherine running towards me. She hugs me, "I am glad that you are fine. Thanks to Mr. Axel, we were able to get out", says Katherine. I smile at her. From the corner of my eyes, I see some of the girls looking at Axel and they are... blushing? Before I can think of anything to say to them, Axel collapses on the floor. Everyone starts to panic and I rush towards him. I hear him barely whisper, "Next time, remind me not to do multiple out-of-line-of-sight void jumps".
