"AXEL!" I scream when I see him get pinned to the wall. The uneven metal rods of rough texture tighten around his waist and wrists. I rush towards him to check whether he's hurt. The force of the impact has caused the wall to crack. Axel seems unhurt. I turn to look at the attacker. He is a teenager with black hair, streaked blonde at the tips. The teen quickly takes the card Axel dropped when he was attacked, and flees the scene.

"Talk about kinky. Cassie! Go after him. His aura matches the traces on the card", Axel says frantically.

"But, I can't leave you here", I say as I pull on the metal to free him.

"GO! I can get rid of these. He is our only clue. Go after him!" Axel orders and I reluctantly run after the teen. I quickly look down the stairwell and see him running down the stairs. I have to get down the stairs quickly, or else, I will lose him. Suddenly, a crazy idea pops up in my head.

"I should get my head checked", I exclaim and jump down the stairwell. Adrenaline rushes in my veins as I plummet down the stairwell at neck breaking speed. I shift my weight to my hips and quickly concentrate my essence around my legs, causing the wind to accumulate around me and thus, slowing down my fall. I levitate for a few seconds when I reach the bottom and quickly run after the teen once I cut off my essence supply.

"STOP!" I shout at him as we run through the developmental zone. He quickly flicks his hand backwards and the steel rods, stacked for reinforcing the concrete, lunge towards me. I quickly spread my essence around me and say, "Wind magic: Gale Barrier", and a thick barrier of wind forms in front of me and the rods bounce off it. I quickly realise that the bounced rods are a great danger to the civilians and property. Maintaining the barrier, I rapidly reach out my essence to the rods and say, "Wind magic: Gale Thread", thus catching them mid-air and pulling them towards the ground, just enough to not harm the people around.

The way he threw the rods, it is certain that he has good essence control and he can also manipulate the metals which did not originate from his essence. Not only that, being a metal mage, he was throwing iron and steel-based attacks on me. Either he can control both iron and steel independently or he can control only iron and controls steel because it has iron in it. I realise that the teen in front of me might not be aware of the atomic makeup of the other metals. Metal magic is a sort of special affinity. In order to create a metal, you must know the atomic makeup of the metal. So, this guy is a watered-down version of Nack, since Nack's metal magic is versatile in nature.

Once all the rods are directed towards the ground, I bring both my hands together, charge my fists with essence and say, "Wind magic: Air Pillar Barrage". Eight columns of air shoot out of my fists and rocket towards him. He seems to sense the attack coming towards him, because he manages to dodge most of them. The last one, though, hits him, but he still keeps on running. He quickly turns back while running, sticks his arm out towards me and shouts, "METAL MAGIC: FERROUS SPLINTER". Suddenly, a huge shard of iron, about half his size, manifests in front of his arm and comes flying towards me. I quickly dodge it, but some of it scrapes my skin. This time, he has managed to put some distance between us. I decide to change my approach. I quickly charge my legs with my essence in order to gain some speed using my wind affinity. Out of the blue, a cart comes out from a corner and the teen cleanly jumps over it. Wow! I am running with such a speed that if I had to make that jump, I was 100% sure to crash. As the cart slides towards me, I do what I think is logical. I slide under the cart and continue to run. I wince in pain when I realise that I have scraped my knees badly. I make a mental note not to do that again.

I quickly cover the distance and once he is within range, I charge my essence in the shape of a ball and throw it at him saying, "Light Magic: Nova Sphere". The glowing orb of light hits him on the back and explodes on contact. I make sure that the explosion is a small one, so as to minimise the damage. The explosion causes the teen to lose his footing and he gets sprawled onto the pavement. I try to apprehend him but he springs up on his feet and raises his fists, readying himself to fight.
