"Sorry!" I say to a random stranger as I bump into him. Axel and I are walking around Crux. Specifically, I am following Axel, who seems to have a destination in mind.
"What's up with all these people? For what is happening around them, they should remain indoors", I hear Axel grumble in annoyance. I chuckle slightly as I catch up to him. I had woken up at 6:30 A.M. and after cleaning myself up, I had found Axel, already dressed up, sipping his coffee at the dining table. To tell you the truth, this is the first sentence I had I heard him say since this morning.
"So, you don't like being outdoors?" I ask as we walk.
"Actually, I love the outdoors. It is just that I am not good with cities. They make me feel claustrophobic, with all these people", he replies back.
"Seems legit considering the fact that you went to a prison earlier this morning", I say innocently.
"How do you know that? You were fast asleep", Axel asks in shock.
"Just overheard your conversation with Uncle Leo last night, when I woke up to get myself some water", I say as I recall the events of the previous night.
*FLASHBACK*
I wake up in the middle of night due to the thirst that is building up in my throat. You can say that it's in my character. I tend to get thirsty every night whenever I stay overnight at some place other than my dorms. I quickly get down from my bed, but quietly enough, so as to not disturb Axel, who is sleeping in Kace's room, next to mine. I quickly head to the kitchen and drink a glass of water. As I am returning to my room, I see Axel and Uncle Leo standing near the balcony. Me, being the curious girl I am, strain my ears and as an extra measure, discreetly command my essence to help the wind blow towards me, so that it can carry their voices.
"So, what is it you want to talk about, Axel, that you couldn't wait till morning?" asks Uncle Leo. The way he had asked, I quickly understood that they had just started to talk. Talk about my timing being convenient enough to overhear them. Ha!
"Uncle, is it possible to arrange a meeting with Travis the first thing in the morning?" asks Axel.
"Travis? Oh! You mean the kidnapper. Why?"
"I have some personal questions and I believe some of it might help the case".
"Well, the prison's office hours begin at 5A.M., you know... But it might be difficult to set up a meeting so early in the morning", says Uncle Leo.
"If I start from here at 5A.M., then I would reach the HQ by 5:15A.M. Then, by the time I finish, it will be around 6:15A.M. So, I can be back before Cassie wakes up".
"You are not taking Cassie with you?" asks Uncle Leo.
"No. Let her sleep. She usually wakes up at 8A.M. but because of what is going on, she's most likely to wake up at 6:30A.M." says Axel.
Uncle Leo remains silent, as if he's pondering, then he says, "If I give you a permission letter, they might allow you".
"That would be convenient", Axel says with a small smile.
*FLASHBACK ENDS*
"I must say, even though you say that my aura is bright, you didn't even notice me. How come you didn't sense me?" I ask.
"My aura sense is not a passive ability. Just like Dread, I have to think of it beforehand in order to sense anyone's aura. Sure, it might have infinite range, but it also takes an equal amount of concentration to keep it active", replies Axel.
