Lakeisha POV

"No! Get your hands off me!" I shouted at Chris when I digested everything around me and broke free from my trance. No this can't happen to me! I have my life planned out. Jayden is the one I want to marry. These old folks can't tell me what to do when my life is concerned. When dad made the announcement, I was in total shock that I could do nothing. I only stood still and watched my life crushed by. I've never prepared myself for this because I thought this will never happen to me. Jayden has been right all along. I feel hatred for my family and I'm very much disappointed in my father. Watching Jayden being guided out by aunty Abigail, his mother made me realize that nothing is okay around me. I wished for the earth beneath me to break open so I'd be swallowed. The tear on Jayden's cheek and look in his eyes told a story of a disappointed guy. The love and passion that ignites in his eyes when I look at him have all been replaced by hatred. My heart broke a millionth time. Everyone around is whispering something to the other standing by him or her.

"You all have no right to pick a husband for me." I scanned the faces of my family one after the other before removing the ring from my ring finger and threw it at Chris.
"Lakeisha?" Mum said worriedly as she threaded steps towards me.
"Don't crowed me mum!" I took few steps away from her and she paused on the next step she took forward.
"I don't care what any of you think about me right now. Just because your planned marriages worked out, doesn't mean mine will. We're in the twenty-first century where you can't force someone to do what he or she doesn't want to do, much less choose a spouse for me without my consent. How do you expect me to live under the same roof with someone I know nothing about. Did you ever think about my feelings? No you didn't" I shook my head in disappointment when I saw dad's head bent in shame. The paparazzi didn't miss  a shot of anything that was happening. "All the time I've lived my life to your choices but not this time. I am human and my feelings matter too"
"Lakeisha!!" Grandpa Stanley called my name in a very authoritative voice. No! That isn't going to scare me. I turned to exit through the same door Jayden left. The guards from nowhere blocked my way.

"Let her go! For now she won't know the essence of family but soon she will"

Grandpa spoke bitterly. I didn't pay attention to any of his scrowls, what made me turn my head was mum's cry.
"She had held on dad's legs to do something to prevent me from going." I feel her pain too. Very soon I'll be a mother and I wouldn't love to see my child separate herself from me on a bad note. The guards obeyed what Grandpa said and allowed me to pass. I'm leaving to a place where nobody will find me and my unborn child with the love of my life. All I have to do now is to find where he is.
