"Nonsense! Nonsense!" Dad badged into the guest room I'm receiving treatment in annoyed.
"What's wrong hunny" mum rose up from  my side and walked to him.
"Ask your daughter. You at the shame she has brought upon our hard earned family name in one night. Just look at this" dad hanged the news paper in the air so everyone in the room could read the highlight of the front page.
BILLIONAIRE DAUGHTER, LAKEISHA MILTMORE BREAKS FAMILIES TRADITION BY REJECTING HER SUITOR.

Damn these people are too quick at spreading gossips.
"Hunny, this shouldn't get you boiled up this way. All we need to do is to speak to the chief editor and all sold news papers and articles about last nights event would be erased like it never happened. Or we can buy the company just now." Mum came to my defense with an alternate approach.
"What's that" mum eyed the letter in dad's hand when he raised it for her to take from his hand.
"Just have a look at it" dad insisted. Mum took the sheet slowly from dad and read whatever was written on the paper. Streams of tears dropped on the letter. I know by now there's nothing to hide anymore.
"What's this Lakeisha?"
"What mum?" I feigned innocence.
Mum threw the sheet at me annoyed.  "Have a look at it yourself." I read every word after word. Sweet Jesus! I'm still pregnant! I didn't lose my baby. I touched my stomach protectively as tears made their way down. I've regretted giving myself to that ingrate who didn't even love me but I don't regret carrying his baby. That little thing growing in me is the fruit of what I called love. A symbol of the love I thought would never end. Nothing will make me hate my baby for what her father has put me through. I intended to give everything up for him but he didn't cherish my sacrifice. Instead, he called me names I never imagined would come out from his lips. I'll make Jayden pay for every tear he has caused me.

"Young lady you better speak up before I lose my patience." Grandpa burst out in total heat. All my life I've not gone through family ridicule and hatred. The story would have remain same if I didn't get blinded with love. Jayden Cudjoe, I hate you! Wait till I get even with you for rendering my baby bastard.
"I know I'm pregnant and I'm keeping my baby" I answered grandpa.
WAP! I don't know what I missed but between a micro second, grandpa has strode to my side and landed a hot slap on my cheeks.
"Dad!" Mum cried bitterly. "No one hits my baby!" she cried more restless.
"Natalie you and Lexis have failed your role as parents! First you let your son have total freedom to the extent of distancing himself from his family. Then again there's this spoilt over pampered brat who has brought shame upon as all. I wish dad Elliot was here to witness how the reputation he fought for has been tarnished by your loose parenting."

"Dad all we've done is to be the best parents for our children and letting them choose the life they want to live. Our soul responsibility is to be guardians to our children and not autocrats. I think you and all the elders of this family failed in letting your children have their ways. I've not been in support of this planned marriage since day one but I agreed because you're my dad and I respect your decisions but if you question me on how I raise my kids I don't care to let to go as my father and be there for my kids." Mum spoke boldly in tears. Of course she's doing what every great parent would do for their kids, being there for their children and that's what I'm going to do. Nothing will make me give up on my baby. Mum I'm proud of you.

"Baby it's fine" Dad hugged mum tightly.
"I think it's time for everyone to go to their individual homes. We've had enough for a day and we appreciate your comings." Dad asked my aunt and grandparents to leave to their home. Aunt Amalia kissed my forehead before leaving the room. Everyone kissed my cheeks before exiting except grandpa who only gave me a deadly glare. Dad shut the door once they'd all left the room, remaining just three of us, my parents and I.
"I can tell you're finally happy for the shame you've brought on us Lakeisha?" Dad looked at me disappointedly.
"You've really let everyone down Keisha and because of you your grandfather called us failed parents. Soon enough, outsiders will begin to point hands to gossip about us because they'll say same. Tell me what I failed to give you as your father that made you go astray this way?" Dad is really suppressing his emotions.
"Papa, I'm sorry" I said in a weak voice but he heard me anyway.
"Sorry? Lakeisha you feel just saying sorry would clean every mess you've caused in a night?"
I bent my head down in shame.
"Who's the father of that thing growing in you?"

"Jayden" I said sharply and I noticed the surprised looks on their faces. For once I want you come clean with my parents.
"Jayden?" Dad asked again you be sure if he hadn't lost his hearing senses.
"Yes dad, Jayden." The moment I repeated Jayden's name my dad's sad expression hard expression softened. He drew closer to my bed and sat by me. Mum sat on the stool she was sitting on beside me before dad banged into the room.
"Sweetie, you trust us as your parents right?" I nodded to mum's question.
"Then kindly share your little secret with us. How did everything happen tight under our nose without anyone noticing. We promise to keep it safe." Mum made a pinkie promise with dad to show their secrecy.
I played with my brain on settling on the correct decision. Should I open up to them or not? The worse has already happened.
"mm mm mm" I cleared my throat. "Our relationship sparked four years ago when I shoot my shot on Jayden"
"Ohh" my parents exchanged surprised looks.
"Yes. I did that because I was tired of waiting for forever for Jayden to profess his love for me. Jayden is actually the only guy aside my brother Lucas that grew to be fond of. I fell in love with his intelligence, his determined soul and kindness. I thought our relationship would be as solemn as he makes life look like. Honestly I must say he never failed to show me love in the slightest chance he got. We were doing fine until I realized he has social class insecurities. Lucas had to even come in to tell him to forget about how insecure he felt about being with me" once again, my parents exchanged looks but this time it's a look of pride. My parents are very good listeners.

"Jayden feared for our future that one day a poor boy like him wouldn't be given the chance to be with me so for four years he never went far with my body apart from kissing me. I grew restless because I wanted to feel his touch and how making love with him would feel like. I wanted him to be the first man I gave myself to so I continued insisting and assuring him that nobody can come between us. I lost my virginity to him on the night of my graduation and that is the same night I conceived my baby. I'm aware of pills and other sexual protections but I was so blinded with love that I didn't consider the outcome."
I paused to look at my parents. They're so drunk in what I'm telling them.
"Go on" dad urged me.
"I found out I'm pregnant this morning. Alethea shot the alarm and I was able to flee from Doctor Ali's examination not knowing I'd be busted soon" I said with a slight smile.
"So does Jayden know you're carrying a symbol of your love?" Dad asked a very surprising question.
"No dad he doesn't know and he'll never know" I said coldly.
"But he's the father of your child and he deserves to know." Mum tried to vindicate Jayden. I know how much my parents love Jayden. No wonder all their anger has gone down the moment I made them know that Jayden is the father of my child.
"He lost all right to call my baby his child when he nearly caused me to losing her by pushing me to get away from him after he heard that I was going to marry Chris."

"Dear, you and the love of your life should work your differences out. I can  send the guards to call him now so the both of you can work things out."
"No papa, Jayden left home yesterday with aunt Abigail. He called me a traitor and a lot of names that I can't forgive him for." Mum smiled at me warmly.
"Sweety, on the field of love one doesn't get to have what he or she always wanted. I know Jayden is a good boy and he'll be a very great dad, just forget about the family marriage and take the chance to be with the love of your life." Mum took my free hand and caressed it.
"Sweetheart I just forgive him and give him one last chance."
"No papa. Let's continue with the wedding processes. I want to marry Chris so I can clear the mess I've caused the family. Once I marry Chris, those who patronize their news papers wouldn't rely on them for news anymore because they'll see the first news as a lie, making their words against ours. Also I'll have the chance to apologize to grandpa." I settled on a decision.
"Are you sure about that?" Dad asked worriedly.
"Yes papa" I faked an okay smile.
"We'll always be there for you princess." Mum assured me as they both have me a warm hug.
"Thanks mum. You two are the best"
