Chapter 5

Savitar was at the house within seconds and vibrated through the front door. After scanning the first floor, he rushed upstairs to see Caitlin tied up in a chair turned toward a small TV.
"Caitlin," he said softly and untied her.
She stood up and mumbled, "thank you."
"Of course, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, it's just....you didn't have to choke him you know."
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "I know, I went a bit overboard, but the things he was saying..."
"I get it. But he's not a bad guy."
"He kidnapped you," he explained calmly.
"I-let's get to the lab."
He carried her to the lab and there, waited the rest of the team, eager to see Caitlin safe and sound.
Iris was the first one to hug her friend, "glad to have you back," Caitlin smiled back appreciatively.
After hugs were exchanged, everyone stood together to discuss what they were to do with Nicholas, who was in the time vault right below them.
"We should try and talk to him again, he might listen now that he's being held captive," Barry suggested.
"Are you kidding me?" Savitar raised his voice, "we already tried taking to him. Twice! We should sent him to Iron Heights," his voice boomed through the room and everyone stood silent until Caitlin spoke up.
"You tried killing Iris endless times, yet you're still here."
"Caitlin," his voice suddenly changed to a softer tone, "do you not like that I'm here?" He said analyzing her, yet she couldn't bring herself to meet his eyes.
"I'm sorry, I-" she rushed out of the room.
Savitar looked down embarrassed.
"Savitar, she's just rattled up," Barry tried to comfort him.
"No, she's right. I don't know what I was thinking," he laughed without humor, "I should've never agreed to joining the team," and just like that, he left the cortex to go visit Nicholas.
"Savitar, is it?"
"What do you want?"
He sighed, "I just want my powers gone."
"Why?"
"Why not? Do you know how hard it is to wake up everyday realizing what a monster you are?"
"Not all metas are monsters."
"Ha! Says you. I murdered my wife! The love of my life! I just went to kiss her one morning and she froze to death! I go to sleep everyday thinking about her face and how scared she was. Of me, someone who promised to always protect her from harm, and then it turns out that I was the harm all along."
"Nick, look..."
"You know how it feels, don't you? Caitlin, she's scared of you too. But you love her, don't you? Are you willing to walk away for her own good? Or are you selfish?"
Savitar ran to the glass window and smashed his hand.
"If all you want are your powers gone, why kill? Why take Caitlin?"
"I need her."
"For what?"
"To get my wife back."

Caitlin sat in the speed lab thinking about just how much her life had changed when Cisco walked in with a worried look.
"Hey,"
"Hi," she moved to make space for him.
"So, what was that about?"
"It's just that...Nick is just like me. I wanted to ask him to help me, with Frost."
"Caitlin. You have people here who can and will help, you don't need to go to a villain and risk your life."
"I know you guys are here to help, but after everything that happened with Savitar, I don't want to be a burden to you," at this point, tears started to fall down her cheeks.
"Hey, you'd never be a burden. You hear me? Never."
"Oh God. I can't believe what I said to Savitar, do you think he'll forgive me?"
"You? He'd forgive you."
"What do you mean, me?"
"Wow, Dr. Snow, for someone with a PhD, you're really not good at this," he smiled.
"Cisco," she raised her eyebrows, "what are you talking about?"
"He likes you," those three words made her instantly blush and she looked down.
"And by the looks of it, you do too," he grinned.
"I-can I tell you something?" He nodded.
"When I got kidnapped, all I was thinking about was him, there on the floor, stabbed and how I couldn't help him."
"Caitlin, you should go tell him that."
"I don't know."
"All I can see is that you bring out the best in him."
"Thanks Cisco," Caitlin smiled and wiped her tears away.

Back in the West-Allen apartment, Barry sat down, speed writing all the other invitations.
"And....done!"
"What? Already?" Iris was a bit disappointed, but kept a smile on her face. Being The Flash's fiancée had its perks, obviously, but sometimes it had its downfalls too.
"Yep! We're almost done everything. Isn't that great?"
"Yeah, but maybe we can slow down a bit?"
"Uh, sure, whatever you want. Anyways, have you heard from Caitlin?"
"No. Savitar though, poor thing. They both like each other, but they just won't say anything."
Barry smiled, "kind of like us in the beginning."
She grinned and then sat on his lap,
"If they're anything like us, then they'll find they're way to each other, no matter what."
"Yeah?"
"Definitely," she pecked him on the cheeks but he soon caught her lips with his again. She tangled her fingers in his hair and they fell back on the couch laughing.

Caitlin went home conflicted with her feelings, but she was ready to tell Savitar how she felt. She opened the door, but quickly sensed something was wrong. She couldn't find Savitar anywhere and started to get nervous, did she hurt him as bad as she thought she did? She called him, but it went straight to voicemail and she started to text him.
Hey, I'm sorry about today, come home. Please.
She put on her pajamas and sat on the couch waiting for him. By 2am, he still hadn't come home and she was soon about to fall asleep when the sound of the door opening woke her.
"Hey," she said tiredly.
"Hi. What are you doing awake?"
"I-I was waiting for you."
"You really didn't have to."
"I was worried, I texted you a couple of times. You never answered."
"Sorry, my phone died."
"Where were you?"
"I was....I was looking for apartments and then I just ran around the city for a while."
"Oh," was all she could say. She didn't expect him to live with her forever, so why did the thought of him leaving hurt so much?
That night, they both went to bed without another word.
