*20 minutes later! Valerie and Meredith were finishing up what was left of their meals. Valerie placed her paper plate on the table then looks over at the girls and sees that Santana was brushing her fingers though Brittany's hair as Brittany rested her head on the crook of Santana's neck and holds Santana's sides*
Valerie: you girls sure that you don't want some of this food now? *smiles at the fact that Santana made eye contact for the first time since she arrived*
Santana: no thanks, I'm good *looks at her mum but quickly looks away because she still didn't feel good about everything that has happened. With her mum kicking her out and now this*
Valerie: ok mija... what about you Britt?
Brittany: thank you but I'm just gonna wait *smiles at Valerie then looks up at Santana once Valerie goes back to chatting with Meredith about random stuff*
Brittany: *felt how san quickly looked away from her mum after she spoke to her* you feeling any better? *speaking quietly so only san can hear*
Santana: I don't know... still a little all over the place, i guess *weakly smiles at Brittany*
Brittany: *frowns a little because she doesn't like san feeling like this. She then had an idea to make san laugh again so she doesn't think about everything that is upsetting her. They stare into each other's eyes a little longer then out of nowhere, Brittany starts to tickle san. Which makes Santana suddenly burst out laughing and trying to grab hold of Brittany's hands so she can stop*
Santana: babe stop! *see's that Brittany has a smirk on her face as she continues to ignore Santana's wishes*
*Meredith and Valerie heard the sudden outburst so they both turn their heads to look over at the girls*
Meredith: honey... give the poor girl some space for once in her life *laughs and shakes her head as Brittany turns to look at her mum smiling*
Valerie: *laugh then turns to Meredith as Brittany and Santana go back to looking at each other. Of course Santana crosses her arms over her chest, pouting at Brittany*
Valerie: high school graduates and they still act like complete children *laughs*
Meredith: pretty much! *laughs*
Nurse: *it was about 2pm when a nurse came in to check up on Valerie* hello Mrs Lopez! how you feeling? *friendly smiles*
Valerie: much better after having these girls around *smiles over and san and Brittany then to Meredith and back to the doctor for him to continue talking*
Nurse: thats great! looks like you have been spoilt this afternoon *looks at the Italian food then back to Valerie*
Valerie: yep! It was the best meal I have had in a long time
Nurse: glad to hear that! anyway, i just came in to tell you that your surgery has been scheduled for Wednesday morning! *looks at Valerie*
Valerie: perfect! *looks at the nurse, waiting to see if he has anything else to say*
Nurse: is there anything you need me to get for you, or are you alright? *looks down at Valerie*
Valerie: I'm all good, thank you!
Nurse: alright! Ill back to check up on you later tonight *smiles at Valerie then walks back out of the room*
Meredith: it has been so good to see you and catch up but i think its about time that i take these girls home *looks at Valerie*
Valerie: thank you so much for coming guys *looks at the girls then back to Meredith*
Meredith: feel free to give me a call if you ever need anything and i will come back as soon as I can *smiles at valerie*
Valerie: thank you M! *smiles at Meredith*
Meredith: and if I'm away with work and cant get to you quick enough, then you can just get in touch with either of the girls and I'm sure they would be more than happy to help *looks at Valerie then up at Brittany and san who were now stood at the end of the hospital bed*
Brittany: of course! *smiles at Valerie*
Valerie: thank you Brittany! *smiles at Brittany and San*
Brittany: no problem! I was so nice to see you
Valerie: you too!
Meredith: bye val *reaches down to give her a hug goodbye*
Santana: *stays stood behind Brittany and holding onto her hand* bye mum! *looks too her mum for a second then looks back to the ground*
Valerie: *kinda disappointed that san has gone back to being shy towards Valerie and doesn't attempt to go over and give her a hug goodbye* goodbye mija, I love you! *looks at san just waiting for her to respond. Brittany squeezes sans hand a little to comfort santana so she doesn't get to lost in thought*
Santana:*still looking at the ground*...love you too!
Meredith: *can sense that the situation in hard for san so she quickly changes the subject so they can get home* alright. You girls ready? *looks up at Santana and Brittany*
Brittany: yep! *smiles at her mum*
Meredith: alright! You girls head out to the car and ill be there in a minute. Just gonna have a quick chat with val *looks at Brittany and throws her the car keys*
Brittany: ok! *walks out the room with Santana following close behind*
Valerie: bye girls! *turns to Meredith as soon as the girls are out the room*
Meredith: don't worry about her... shell be fine! I promise *smiles at Valerie*
Valerie: i cant believe how much this whole rick situation has torn my family apart, to the point of where my own daughter cant even look at me or give me a hug goodbye *frowns and start to get watery eyes*
Meredith: I'm sorry that this has happened val... i promise you it will get better and with a little bit of patience, san will be back to giving you so many hugs. Making up for all the lost time *sympathetically smiles at Valerie, as Valerie weakly smiles at Meredith*
Valerie: yeah... *weakly smiles*
Meredith: alright! I better go and get these girls home and get them something to eat. Ill message you later to check on you *gets up and takes the bag with all the left over Italian food for the girls*
Valerie: see you soon! *Meredith walks to the door and looks back to smile at val once more before leaving*
*Brittany and san were sat in the car. Santana was sitting in the middle seat and had her feet up on the seat that was left, as she lay her head on Britt's shoulder. Brittany had her left arm round the back of Santana and was on her phone just scrolling through her socials to see if she had missed anything exciting*
*Brittany puts her phone back in her pocket then cuddles san and they both just sit in silence, waiting for brittany's mum to come back to the car*
Santana: well that was fun *laughs because she was obviously being sarcastic as it was really hard for her*
Brittany: *laughs because she can hear the sarcasm in Santana's voice* yeah... maybe you should try to say that again and add a little less sarcasm *smiles at san and Santana looks up at Brittany and smiles too*
*Brittany leans down to kiss Santana then san goes back to laying on Brittany's shoulder and gets lost in thought, while Brittany looks out her window too see if her mum was out the hospital yet*
*seconds later, Brittany sees her mum walking towards the car. Once Meredith spotted her car she sees Brittany looking out the window and as Meredith gets closer to the car, they smile at each other then Meredith gets into the front seat and drives home*
