Hating the rain {11}

"We got the milk, eggs, fruit, chicken, and chocolate. What else do we need?" You ask as you check off everything on your grocery list. "I don't know." Niko scoffs rolling her eyes. "You know you could try to be a little more helpful." You mutter walking towards checkout. "Hey! I didn't chose to come here with you, your mother forced me to." She replies with a tone of disgust.

"Go away." You say in a stern voice. "What?" She asks shocked. "I'm not gonna let you sit hear and continue to talk shit about my mother. So go away, I'll take care of the groceries." You spat, not facing her. "Whatever (Y/N), fuck off." She responded walking away.

The cashier finished scanning your items and you payed with the money your mom gave you. You made your way outside only find that it was pouring rain, hard.

"Shit." You grunted and began to think about Niko. "I hope she's gonna be okay, maybe I was a little to harsh." You thought to yourself as you tried to think of how to get home.

You lived only a 5 minute walk away from the grocery store so you decided to just run before the rain got too bad.

One you arrived home you weren't too soaked but still pretty wet. You took off your wet shoes and jacket. "Mom I'm back!" You shout through the house. Your mother met you in the hallway and met you with a confused expression. "Where's Niko?" She asks. "Wait, she's not here?" You ask with worry in your voice. "No what? I thought she was with you!" She begins raising her voice. "Well we got in an argument because she was badmouthing you, I told her off, and she left!" You explain.

You mother sighs and walks over to you, taking the groceries out of your hands. "Okay I understand," She begins. "Just please find her, I don't want to have to hear about this from your father or her mother." She explains and you turn to walk out the door to look for your step-sister.

Niko POV:

"Ugh that bitch." I mutter to myself making my way out of the store. I cant believe she got offended when her what I said about her stupid mother, I said nothing that was a lie.

I didn't want to go home and face (Y/N)'s mom or try to explain why I'm home and she isn't.

I decided to go to the park that is 30 minutes away from (Y/N)'s house since it is so nice out today. I walked and sat on the swings as I watched the trees away in the wind. I began to think about my family and how much I miss my mom and step-dad.

Honesty, I can understand why (Y/N) hates me for her dad choosing me over her but she acts like it's my fault. She's pathetic and I'm not sure how am I suppose to change that.

After a few minutes of being lost in my thoughts I felt a presence next to me. I turn my head to see a tall boy sitting next to me.

"Tsukishima?" I ask and he turns to face me. "That would be me." He responds in a sarcastic tone. "What are you doing hear?" I question as a face forward again. "Came to clear my head." He explains and looks over at me. "What are you doing here? This park is like 30 minutes away from (Y/N)'s house." He says, waiting for my response.

"We got into an argument and I had to get away from her that's all." I explain with a soft voice. "Why do you and her hate eachother? I mean she told me that you have always been out to get her and ruin her life but like why?" He asks furrowing his brows.

"That bitch." I thought to myself. I mean he isn't wrong and I am trying to ruin her life but he isn't suppose to know that.

"Is that seriously what she told you?" I ask trying to sound innocent I guess. "I mean yea, and I really have no reason not to believe her." He explains pushing up his glasses. "Why? Was (Y/N) lying?" He asks. "I don't know and I really don't want to get into it." I say not trying to come up with stupid excuses.

We sat in comfortable silence until the sky got dark and raindrops began to fall. At first it was a light sprinkle but quickly began pouring.

"We better get inside before we both get sick." Tsukishima points out as he stands up and we both begin walking. "Wait you live like 30 minutes away how are you getting him?" He questions. "I'll just walk I guess." I respond starting to shiver as I got soaked. "Are you an idiot?" He asks annoyed. "What?" I replied shocked. "You're gonna get sick if you walk that far in this weather." He explains. "Then what do you expect me to do you lamppost?" I retort with a grunt.

"Ugh just come back to my house until the weather calms down." He groans.

I was going to decline his offer considering I have no interest in him but then, I remember (Y/N). I remember her and how she would feel if I hung out with her crush.

"Okay fine, but only until the rain stops." I say and we continue to run back to his house.

After a few minutes of running we made it back to Tsukishima's house and we were both completely soaked. He opened the door and directed me to take my shoes off. I did and then he turned to speak to me. "Okay my parents aren't home so you should probably take a shower before your dumbass gets sick." I scoff but do as he told and followed him to the bathroom.

He left for a moment and came back with a spare change of clothes. "Here." He said with a roll of his eyes. "Why the hell do I need these." I spat back. "Are you an idiot? So you don't have to sit in your soaked clothes and get sick." He's responds shoving the clothes at me. "Tch." Is all I replied and closed the door on his face.

Back to (Y/N) POV:

You constantly tried contacting Niko by call and text but no answer. You decided to go check around where her friends live to see if she stopped there which happened to be near Tsukishima's house. You thought you should cancel your study session today and ask him for help to maybe look for your step-sister.

It was still raining, you had an umbrella over you but you were constantly stepping in puddle getting your shoes and ankles soaked. It didn't bother you though because you loved the rain.

You arrived at Tsukishima's house and gave it a knock. The door knob was turned, opening the door and you were greeted by the tall blonde you were expecting.

"U-uh shortie, I wasn't expecting you till later what are you doing here??" He asks sounding nervous. "Uh yea can we talk? And is everything okay? You ask becoming concerned for your  bestfriend.

Before he could even respond a figure walked out of the bathroom behind Tsukishima. She was  wearing a pair of his shorts and one of his t shirts and looked as if she just finished showering.

You made eye contact with her and realized who you were looking at.

"N-Niko?" You stutter out and look back up at Tsukishima. "No (Y/N), don't be an idiot it's not what it looks like." He retorts while Niko just smirks at you.

You couldn't even react properly. You dropped your umbrella and began running farther away from Tsukishima's house. You could hear him calling for you but you tuned his voice out.

Tears began to blur your vision but you continued to run. You had no idea how to comprehend what just happened but one thing was for sure...

...You hated the rain now.
