Achilles Come Down

This is low key crappy because I'm super tired at the moment, but Achilles Come Down is like my favorite song so I had to post this.

(read slowly so it fits the song)

He stood there, ready to jump as he had no true reason to live anymore. Patroclus was dead. Achilles couldn't bring himself to burn the body. How could he? Then Patroclus would truly be gone.

The light of the sun was shining everywhere but where Achilles was standing. Specifically at the ground where his body was sure to land if he were to jump.

'It has to be the gods telling me to do it. Right?' Achilles thought has he was walking closer and closer to the edge.

He was about jump when he felt a pull on his wrist. It was Icarus. Achilles had never personally met Icarus, but he had heard of his tragic death by the sun and water.

"No. Don't do it." Icarus said before Achilles could even get a word out.

"But, the sign-" Achilles tried to explain, only to be interrupted by the boy.

"Trust me. It wasn't a sign."

"But the light."

"I've been wronged by the sun too, Achilles. It is nothing but a reminder."

"A reminder of what?"

"Of what true pain is."

Truth be told, Icarus' death wasn't as tragic as it had been told. Everyone knew of the warning that his father had given him, so it seemed as if he was just a foolish young boy who didn't listen. But there was a second warning. Don't soar too low either.

Icarus chose to let the water take him, rather than the hot, burning wax.

The sun had mislead him too. Away from what he truly wanted.

"This is true pain. I have no reason to be here if he isn't either." Achilles said. bringing Icarus out of his thoughts.

"You don't truly believe that do you?" Icarus questioned.

"I am nothing more than a rat in the gutter."

"Achilles come down. Just be done with this now and get off of the roof." Icarus, now, had his hand out for Achilles to take.

"I'm not cared for. No one would care if I died, anyways."

"You're loved by all- some- of us."

"I'll just be done with this and jump off the roof."

And with that, Achilles took one step back and fell for his body to hit exactly where he had known it would.

Icarus looked down at Achilles' body. As the thought, his god genes hadn't saved him this time. Achilles was dead. Icarus slowly looked up towards the sun, which was now faded compared to before.

"One wasn't enough for you huh?" After those six words left his mouth, he did what Achilles should have, and walked off the roof.
