It was the second to final night of this ball season and she had still yet to meet her perfect suitor. It was a masquerade ball, tradition in her small town of Marseilles. She sat alone in the corner of the ball, watching others be whisked away by romance.

It wasn't exactly easy for Bella to speak to others, especially since she had just ended things with Count Black. His family had a different perspective of others.

"Why is such a fine lady sitting alone on such a joyous night?" A man Bella had never met before asked.

"No ones proposed the idea of a dance yet." She responded.

"Well, I shall fix that." With that his hand out in front of him towards Bella.

"Why not." She said taking his hand whilst standing to her feet.

He was quick to pull her out into the middle of the ball room. They waltzed and twirled and laughed the night away. Before they knew it, the ball had ended.

"How would you like to join me to the final ball tomorrow night ,mademoiselle?" The man asked as his carriage arrived.

"Sorry to deny, kind sir, but don't even know your name." Bella had replied.

"Monsieur Cullen of the Cullen family line," he said, "but call me Edward if it's not to pardon you."

"Well, Edward Cullen," she responded, "I'm Madame Swan of no family line. Call me Bella if you wish."

"If it's no bother, might I ask why no family line?"

"My family is from the Americas. I've only lived in Marseilles for a year and a half."

"Well, a late welcome to Marseilles, Madame Bella Swan." Edward said bowing.

"My thanks are given, Monsieur Edward Cullen." Bella said curtsying.

"So will you, now, be my companion to the final ball?"

'It'd be an honor, Edward." With that, both Bella and Edward climbed into their carriages. A smile was plastered onto their faces. Though, they still wondered what the masked citizen looked like.

The following day, while out in her carriage, a bouquet of violets fell upon Bella's lap. She looked for the one who threw them, but no one stood out to her. She smiled at the thought that it was the masked Edward Cullen.

At nightfall, a knock was heard upon her door. Bella opened it to see the masked man.

"Monsieur Cullen," Bella started, "how did you know where I live?"

"This is the only house not owned by a French family line." he responded with a wide smile. "Meet me at the doors of the plaza the ball will be held. I shall be wearing a white suit with a red tie."

"Until then." Bella said, now smiling.

"Until then, madame Swan." He called as he reentered his carriage.

At eight o-clock Bella had arrived at the plaza. She instantly started to look for Edward.

Bella noticed a fellow in white turned around. She walked up to him and tapped his shoulder.

"Edward?" She spoke out softly.

"Madame Swan." he said as he turned around, but once his eyes landed on her he froze."You're even more gorgeous without the mask, Miss Bella."

"And you are very handsome yourself, Mister Edward." Bella barely spoke out. He was better looking that she had thought.

"Shall we?" Edward asked, holding out his hand, just like on the day they had met.

"We shall." Bella responded as she put her hand in his.

Once again they had another great night full of dancing, twirling, and laughing. This time, only, even more grand than the last. At the final dance, they looked into each others eyes. Both pairs were so easy to get lost in, and they both were drowning.

"Madame Swan, thank you for adjoining me on this night." Edward spoke.

"The pleasure is mine, Monsieur Cullen." She responded.

They walked out of the plaza arm in arm, smiling ear to ear. Edward suddenly turned to Bella, turning her to him.

He leaned in slowly, silently asking permission. Bella started to lean in, silently obliging. Their lips softly and slowly touched.

"Until the next time, madame Bella Swan." Edward said softly as they separated.

"Until then, monsieur Edward Cullen." Bella replied just as softly.

They both left grinning as wide as possible. That night was the best of both of their lives.
