Today was my first real day in New York and I did nothing but practice for my audition. My mind wonders to the past week when I was invited to come here.
*******************
(One week earlier)I raced down the halls frantically as I entered the theater this morning. The theater wasn't really special; it was like every other theater in Portland Oregon. We had a 700 people capacity, a tech booth, and a beautiful stage!
Today was our last production of Bonnie and Clyde after preforming it for three weeks and I was late! I ran into the girls dressing room huffing deeply in and out. I could see every eye in the dressing room look at me.
"Sorry, continue on with your business..." I muttered
"Tamsin!" My dresser, Megan yelled, "Where have you been?! Oh never mind that. Go get your undergarments on so I can wig you!"
I had completely forgotten about being wigged. I grabbed my first dress and undergarments and changed into them. Megan pushed my down into my chair and started to put my mic on me since I already put my makeup on at home. We unfortunately don't have very fancy mics just ear ones that are ancient! Megan pin curled my hair before putting the red wig on over my long, now pin curled naturally auburn hair. Megan handed me some lipstick to put on and I glanced in the mirror while applying it. I still was not used to the short haired red-head look on me.
I Heard someone yell, "places," and went back stage and prepared to go on stage as Bonnie not Tamsin. I was ready. I Hurd my cue and walked on stage.

(Later during the show)
I started singing the song 'How Bout a Dance' for Clyde or my friend Jackson.I sang as passionately as I could.
"How bout a dance
Let's make a start
Music like this can really throw you
You'll lose the blues and you may lose your hart."After I finished the song I got a huge round of applause which I was quite proud of.

(After the show)
The show ended and I went into the lobby with my fellow cast members to greet the audience as they left. This is a thing we do at every performance here at The Portland Public Theater (TPT). I laughed with my fellow cast members as many people walked out of the theater.
After being in the lobby for about five minutes a man in a suit walked up to me and said, "You did great tonight Miss Gasper! My name is Anthony Hale and I am a talent scout for Broadway."
My eyes grew big at the mention of 'talent scout' and 'Broadway'.
"I was wondering, if I had my company fly you out to New York and get you an apartment to stay in that you would like to audition for a Broadway production would you be up to it?"
"Would I?!?!" I mentally started FREAKING OUT!
"Great! Here is my business card I will schedule a flight for you next week and I can send you the script for the production so you can practice if you give me your address." Mr. Hale winked at me and I continued telling him information about myself as he asked questions.
"And my last question is how old are you?"
"I am twenty two. Yeah, twenty two." The man smiled and nodded than turned to leave.
"Bye Mr. Hale!" I called to him as he left the theater.
*******
(Four days later)
I was starting to worry about the script Mr. Hale promised to have sent for me and it's whereabouts, as if on cue I Hurd a knock on the front door. I opened the door to see a fairly sized, heavy box. I took the box in the house and opened it.
'Wicked'.
Is the first word I saw. Curiosity got to me and I ripped open the box reviling two wicked CD's and a Wicked script.
Words would not form in my mouth. 'He wants me to audition for Wicked!' My brain yelled at me. I screamed a squeal of happiness; probably annoying my neighbors and opened the script and a note fell out.
Dear Ms. Gasper
I took the liberty of highlighting the script for you. Their is an instrumental disk and a disk with the original cast singing the songs also. For your audition you have to sing a song from Wicked, a song of your choice, and read from the script. I hope you have found this helpful.See you in New York,
Anthony HaleI read the letter again then opened the script booklet to a random page and noticed Elphaba's part was highlighted! I freaked out again and danced around my small house singing at the top of my lungs 'Defying Gravity'

(Back to present day)
I was in New York! I looked out the window in awe as sleep overcame my body and I laid down in my new bed. When my head touched the pillow I was out.
