{a.n: the shirt says I am the very model of a person who loves Musicals}
I wake up fairly early and drag myself out of my bed. I make a cup of tea and get dressed in my green sweats and a musical shirt. I fishtail braid my hair while I wait on my breakfast to cook in the microwave. I take my breakfast egg-biscuit thing and try to eat as much as I can of it. After eating half of my biscuit I pull on a pair of knock off Uggs since the real thing is to expensive. I grab my coat, scarf, bag, keys, phone, script, and earphones before I walk out the door.
I wait for the elevator doors to close and Kyle slides into the cart at the last moment. "How nice of you to join me," I remark. Kyle smirks, "need a ride." I smile pleasantly at Kyle, "if you are willing to drive me to the theatre." Kyle offers me his arm, "shall we?" I smile at his ritual and link my arm with his, "we shall!"
We spend the entire car ride singing from Hairspray (which Kyle played Link in his high school days) to Footloose (which I was in at the TPT) to If/Then (which Kyle got to see)! The car ride was quite entertaining but I had to keep reminding Kyle that he was driving and needed to look at the road. By the time we got to the theatre I was on that happy-drug thing, like when you laugh so much you become delusional.
Kyle and I prance by Ms. Prather to the rehearsal room. When I say prance I mean prance! In the rehearsal room their is an exited chatter going on all around us. I look at everyone around us, they all look happy. Before I can survey the crowd closer a pare of arms wrap themselves around me. Through the forest of dirty blonde hair that has engulfed me I can make out Kyle laughing. The blonde human pulls away from me and I recognize Sadie's gleeful face.
Sadie literally starts to bounce up and down, "guess what?!" I look into Sadie's eyes and arch an eyebrow, "what?" Sadie gasps, "you didn't know?" I stare at Sadie, "what did I not know?" Sadie starts squealing like a fangirl when her OTP start to fall for each other. I plug my ears with my fingers. Wow! She is the perfect person to play Galinda! "What do I not know," I repeat. Sadie looks into my eyes with pure excitement, "it's costume day!!!!"
Costume day? My heart sinks and it must have shown on my face because Sadie looked concerned, "what's wrong?" I fake a smile and look at Sadie, "nothing!" I bounce up and down with Sadie when on the inside I feel like plummeting. If Director Mantello has noticed my size decreasing than my dress will soon become far to big for me...
One by one we are called to go get our costumes and try them on. I wait patiently in a corner until Sadie walks into the room to show everyone her fifty-pound monstrosity people call 'the bubble dress.' Sadie sways slightly as she walks in and turns to some at me. No, Sadie isn't smiling right now, she looks like the Cheshire Cat!
Eventually Kyle comes and sits beside me while I look at my script. "What's got you down," Kyle asks. I shrug. "It's about your dress, isn't it?" I sigh, "you know me so well, Kyle. It is about the dress, I am afraid it will be to big... On me..." I look back down at my script in my lap and study the line I am looking at. Kyle puts his strong, soft hand under my chin and tilts my head so I have to look at him, "You're so beautiful," is all he says before he pulls me into a passionate kiss.
I hear some wolf whistles in the room and someone shouts (I think it was Joe Mantello), "go get a room!" We brake apart and I smile at Kyle; my heart beating two times faster than it is used too. Right then Kyle's name is called to get fitted. My heart sank again, why is it when ever I am happy someone has to ruin it?
After Kyle leaves Sadie rushes toward me and occupies his empty seat. "Now you can't possibly say you don't have feelings for Kyle!" Sadie took the first opportunity she had to declare her statement. Noel, or Cheastery takes that moment to back Sadie up,"admit it! Ah?" I wave my hands frantically in front of my face and pull my legs into the universal (or American) sign of cowering, hiding, and road kill all in one, "stop using your fancy Canadian language! It has wounded me!" I fall out of my chair and pretend that I have been struck in the heart.
I stand up and sit back down in my chair. Kyle chooses this time to walk in, in his fancy tan legging/tights which makes me fall out of my chair again. Everyone's eyes dart over to me and a thunder of laughter greets my actions. I stand up and pay fake dust off of myself. 'Cool Gasper,' I think sarcastically 'real cool!'
Kyle looks handsome in the "dancing through life" costume, which is a white shirt with a red vest and tan tights. Kyle catches my eye and winks at me then smiles. I feel like my heart just melted and I stare I a trance until someone calls my name, "Tamsin it's your turn."
I rush into the Elphaba dressing room were a short older women is sorting through my costume. The woman smirks when she looks at my shirt, "nice shirt," she says. I look down at my shirt to see it and remember I wore my musical shirt, "thanks." The woman smiles at me, "my name is Katie!" I smile back, "hello I am Tamisn!" Katie shuffles over to the costume rack and hands me the green body suit to pull on. After Katie closes the door I take a deep breath and pull my shirt off. Katie 's eyes go big than go back to normal almost instantly when she looks at my tiny waist. I all ready like this women.
I put on the body suit and Katie gets out my blue dress, turtle neck, and blazer. First, Katie helps me pull the blue tank- top turtle- neck and shows me how to take it off easily for quick change. Then the blue dress comes on over that and the straps of the dress snap on and off for easy removal. The dress is supposed to be snug but let's just say it is a little loose. The blazer is almost half a size to big but it all looks good...
I walk to the rehearsal room and show everyone my costume some people stare others just look away. This goes on for the next four outfits which do not exactly fit the right way. Finally, we get to the dress I have been wanting to see, my act two dress. Katie pulls it out and I rush over to my new dress. The dress is not like any of the other ones. I stare at the beautiful beading and ruffles until I snap myself out of it. "Careful," Katie warns, "it's twenty pounds." I take heed of her warning and pull the dress on. I wish I had left the dress on the ground instantly. The dress was two if not three sizes to big! The beautiful mermaid style dress got turned into a disaster with a little bit to much fabric.
I stare into the mirror and pinch the extra fabric to make the dress tight. I was already under weight when I got measured for this dress imagine how much I weigh now. I close my eyes tightly and let my eyes observe the tears that had threatened to spill only seconds earlier. "We can fix this," Katie declares. I jump up, "we can?" Katie sighs, "of course we can just take the fabric in a little in the back and re-sew the zipper back on!" I oblige, "okay!" I pull my dress off and hand it to Katie. Once the dress is off I feel as light as a feather since my shoulders have been relived of twenty extra pounds.
After trying I my last dress (a black nighty- gown type dress that is the only dress that actually fits me and is really soft) I head straight home. I do not look back until I am in my house. I grab an apple and go into my living room to read.
