I wake up slowly in a dizzy vail of darkness. I regain my vision before my hearing as my eyes slowly flutter open. The first thing I see is Kyle.... Then I realize he is crying with his head laying by my bed side. No, not my bed side but a completely new room. I slowly regain my hearing and I can hear the steady beeping of a heart monitor but Kyle is also talking,
"Tamsin, I am so sorry that this happened to you! I-I should have taken you out more often o-or invited you over. I'm so sorry!" He brakes down crying with a firm grip on my hand. I wiggle my fingers in his grasp a little and his head shoots up immediately.
Even though my head is dizzy I move as fast as my body (and wires attached to me) will allow me to give Kyle a kiss on the cheek and hug him. He sits on my bed with me and we both sob into each other's shoulder. I keep repeating, "I am so sorry. I am so sorry," through a husky voice.
Finally, Kyle says, "that's enough Tamsin. You don't need to be sorry for anything!" But in my mind I do, 'I caused him this pain. I made him cry by my bedside in a hospital for starving myself!' But part of my brain nags at the other half,' he didn't have to come he chose to!'
Kyle chokes a sob and quite downs, "the doctor said you slipped into a coma since you got a huge concussion you might never wake up. I-I was worried sick!"
I make out through my inflamed throat, "how long was I out?" Kyle stares at me in a way that scares me, "Kyle, answer!" He sighs, "almost two weeks..." I sit still and stare straight ahead.
I finally take in my surroundings. This place looks like a florist shop! I got a room to myself and all of my opening night gifts were in here plus more. I try to distract myself with my surroundings but silent tears make their way down my bony cheeks.
A nurse walks in and nearly trips when she finds out I am awake. "Mrs. Anderson your awake!" I almost laugh at her but when I look at Kyle I see his cheeks have turned a blazing red. "That's me," I reply to Kyle's horror, disbelief, and delight. You umm have some visitors down in the lobby, would you like me to send them up?" I smile at the nurse, "sure."
When she leaves I turn to Kyle,"Mrs. Anderson?" I question. "It's the only way they would let me in," Kyle protests, "either way they believed me!" I smirk, "I could get used to it."
The human who walks in through the door is the last person I thought would be here. I decide to ignore him, Kyle gives my brother a quizzical look before glancing between us. His eyes grow bigger when he recognizes our small upturned noses, auburn hair, and bright faces. "I will give you two a moment then..." Kyle mutters under his breath before walking out of the room.
My Brother, Rex sits on the edge of my hospital bed and croaks out, "why, tammie, why?" I start crying heavily again, "I don't know!" Rex pulls me into a hug and I cry into his chest. "I love you Rex," I choke out. "I love you too sis, but you need to stop doing this!" I can here Rex's accent coming through as he gets angry at me. "I know I-I just can not help it!" Rex picks up my chin so I have to look at him, "yes you can, I know you can Tamsin Arabella Gasper!" I sigh, "it's not a 'I want to be skinny' thing anymore! I j-just forget to eat, I mean look at me!" My brother closes his eyes, "Look at me Rex! What do you see?!" Rex looks at me in a loving way, "my beautiful younger sister by forty minutes who just made her spectacular Broadway Debut!?" I start to choke on my tears and just stay there hanging onto his chest, "is their any way you can forgive me for leaving without telling you?" Rex actually laughs, "Tamsin, I would not have drove all the way to New York if I was mad at you! If I where you I would have done the same thing! Now mom and dad on the other had still think you are waiting you jumping talent, but hey! This is a bigger talent and your dream! You are going back into that stage as soon as you are able and I will be in the audience!"
