Jungkook couldn't sleep.

The dimly lit room occasionally brightened by the extremely white lightning streak accompanied by the loud rumbling of thunder.

It had been raining for the past hour. Jungkook was listlessly looking out of the window and was about to drift off to sleep when the lightning began. The window was kept open and the cool chilly breeze blew the stray hairs off his face. The raindrops splashed onto the windowsill and a few speckles of rain fell onto his face.

Jungkook had been studying with Taehyung for a while before the humid weather made them both drowsy. Taehyung drifted off to sleep as soon as his head touched his pillow, but Jungkook stayed awake for a while.

His mind was filled with hazy thoughts.

He had been awfully confused about Taehyung. The weird feeling in his stomach when he's around Taehyung, is well, a feeling he had never experienced before. The clammy hands, blushing cheeks, increased heart rate; all those he had only read in books and seen in films, had actually come true.

He can't have a crush on Taehyung, can he?

No, no, he can't. Absolutely not.

Can he?

The only thing he could think of was calling his parents. The people he could talk to were either his parents or Taehyung, but he definitely didn't want to talk to Taehyung.

Chaeyoung and Jackson told him what he had expected. They told him to do what his heart wanted and the thing is, Jungkook had no idea what his heart wanted.

The only thing that gave his heart hope was when Taehyung blushed and gave him that sweet box-like smile, whenever he did something stupid.

Maybe, there was a little chance that Taehyung did like him back.

Maybe.

Suddenly, Jungkook got snapped out of his thoughts when Taehyung stirred. Jungkook looked down and noticed that Taehyung had tightened his grip on him. He craned his neck over to look at him. Taehyung was still sleeping, his head buried into his pillow and his hair was all over the place, but his lips were curved downwards to a frown and his eyebrows were furrowed in fear.

Jungkook scooted closer to the elder and reluctantly smoothened his hair, hoping that he wouldn't open his eyes.

Taehyung didn't, and the lines on his face relaxed as he loosened his grip on him. Unexpectedly, in a swift motion, he shifted his head from his pillow to Jungkook's shoulder. He gently buried his face into his collarbone and as he did so, Jungkook froze completely as his breath got stuck in his throat.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, another huge streak of lightning flashed, illuminating the whole room and it was followed by a peal of very loud thunder. Jungkook's heart jumped out of his chest and Taehyung's eyes shot open.

He looked at Jungkook, whose eyes were as wide his. He didn't seem to notice that their faces were so very close to each other and Jungkook could see the pupils dilate. He shut his eyes as quickly as he opened them and clutched Jungkook's shirt.

Jungkook felt Taehyung shaking against him and Jungkook stroked his tangled hair gently.

After a few moments of silence passed, another streak of lightning flashed, dimmer than the last time, but Taehyung slowly whispered,

"Kook,"

Jungkook rested his cheek on Taehyung's hair and nodded slightly, "Mm?"

"I-I'm scared."

"So am I," Jungkook admitted.

Taehyung hummed. They remained like that for a while, holding each other, until Taehyung whispered something incoherent but since they were so close, Jungkook heard something that sounded like,

"Thanks, Kook."
