Jake Kavanagh's daughter Ellie is 18 and all grown up . She is at college doing business studies, and her interest in music is no more than a casual hobby that she enjoys. Thanks to her dad's musical background she can play many instruments, including lead guitar, so when one of her fellow college buddies ask her to join his band just for fun she is happy to go along with it, with no great ambition to pursue a life of rock n roll musical fame like her father. That is until she clashes with Brett Carter the good looking lead singer of the semi -rival rock band Kikz, who also play in the same small nightclubs as Ellie. Brett is a talented musician, but arrogant and full of himself and filled with ambition to make his band and music a worldwide sensation. He recognises Ellie's talent, even if she refuses to take it seriously, and think she is wasting her future doing business studies and she is missing a golden opportunity for her musical talent, He wants her to join his band, and so sets out to convince her to follow him into the world of rock stardom, when his band manage to get a recording contract. As much as Ellie is irked by Brett's arrogance and self assurance she finds herself flattered that he wants her to join him, and the possibility of following in her fathers footsteps in the music world starts to become more appealing... But first she has to convince her father Jake, who has kept her pretty sheltered from the music business and fame, to protect her from the murky past of her dead mother. Now, if she wants to join Kikz, she knows she will have to put up with the arrogant Brett, and keep him in line, whilst they make it big in the music world to find fame and fortune in their own right. But can she do it successfully on her own terms, and prove to her father and everyone else, that she will not end up like her mother
