Jess's POV

The soft golden rays fell on my body and woke up with a small smile in my face. I don't know why but I'm just so happy today, it's New Year's Eve!! This year has been a roller costar of emotion both good and bad. I discovered where I truly belong, I discovered a family who loves my so much and I also realized that my mom is never coming back.

Christmas was amazing. Spending it with all my sibling was a dream come true. It was not like one of those rich Christmas celebration which included long table fancy dinners. It was the exact opposite, we spend the whole day in PJ's laughing over the silliest of things and just enjoying being with family.

Today I'm really excited about the party, I know that it may be boring but I am looking forward to it. I am a tomboy but hey, can't blame me for being a girlish. I ran down the stairs, something I don't know very often and hugged the first person I found.

"I love you." I cheekily whispered and heard chuckles fill the room. I lifted my head to see how the person was to see Jem looking down at me with a small smile. "I love you too sweetheart." He said in a amused tone. "How is it fair that he is the only one who gets a hug." Sal asked in mock anger with his eyes too shone in happiness and amusement.

"I don't know." I shrugged my shoulders still holding Jem loosely. It's not every day my oldest brother hugs, I might as well use the opportunity well. "What is for breakfast." I asked as the aroma of freshly baked food hit my nose. I made my way to the dinning room and lid up when I saw the maids placing chocolate chip pancakes on the table.

"You're very happy today, what's the occasion." Jazz asked as we took our seats. "I don't know I just woke up happy I guess." I said and everyone hummed in response. "Since you all here, I have to say a few things. First, I expect you all to be in your best behaviors today at the party, no mischief." Jem said glaring into Jase, Sal and Enzo who visibly tensed.

"Jess, the media will be like vultures today so don't leave my side. Is that clear." Jem asked looking at me. I nodded since I was chewing and replied a small yes after I swallowed, knowing that he won't go on if I don't give a verbal response.

"Jule have you taken care of the security." Jem turned to Jule. "Yes Jem." "And have you-" "Yes I have done everything you said, and crossed checked it multiple times. Now if you don't mind I would like to have a movement of peace." Jule said interrupting Jem and closed his eyes. No one made the slightest sound in order to give Jule his 'peace'.

"Right then I have work to do." Jem said standing up and buttoning his blazer. "Julian. Kindly join me when you have had your peace." Jem said emphasizing on 'peace' and Jule nodded his eyes still closed. "I need a hug." Jule whispered softly like a child. Sal who was sitting next him gave him a side hug and Jazz placed a warm kiss on his forehead which made a small smile form on his face.

He got up and hugged me and Joy tightly and then straightened his suit. "I'm off to work." He said waving his hand and left the room. "Why is everyone acting weird today." Jase asked scrunching his brows together while the rest of us just shrugged our shoulders. After breakfast was over we headed in our own ways, I love to be with my family but everyone needs privacy.

I walked to my room and opened my black hardcovered sketchbook. I have been so caught up with so many things and I don't have time for to do what I love most, sketching. Sometimes I really wonder what I'm running after, many people sacrifice so much to be successful in life but end up not being happy. We chase after so many matristic goods that we forget to enjoy what we have, and to thank God.

I sighed deeply wondering where my sudden thoughts came from and flipped through the pages. I grabbed my kit and started sketching something random, something which I had in mind but can't exactly place a finger on what it is.
