Chapter 50

Rose's POV

Someone please tell me what the hell is going on. My mind raced in the speed of light, thousands of theories blooming in my head. Why is Jem here, I thought he was in Italy. And most importantly, why is he in a hospital. "Where do you need to go." He asked, his voice was tired yet strong. Now, looking closer, his hazel eyes which have always hypnotized me were lifeless. Jem's eyes are never lifeless, his face and eyes are hard and cold, but never lifeless.

"Rose." He called out again, snapping me out of my thoughts. "I have to go to the lobby, I don't know the patients name." I replied and walked forward. "So you just came here, without knowing anything." He asked, his tone laced with anger. "Firstly James, yes I did. It's by job. Secondly, stop asking me questions because you have no right to. And thirdly, watch your tone and control your emotions." I said through gritted teeth and halted in my tracks.

His eyes darkened as he stared into mine, his breathing strained. I let out a long breath of exhaustion, the day's tiredness kicking in. "What's wrong. Why won't you tell me." I asked moving closer to him. I had to arch my neck to meet his eyes, thanks to his giant structure. I wasn't short, Jem was just too tall. "Don't worry about it. We should go to the lobby." He replied in a lighter tone, his features softening.

Sighing in exhaustion, I made my way to the lobby, Jem on toe. "Hello, I'm Dr. Davis. I was called here on an emergency." I said to the women behind the desk. "Dr. Davis." An enthusiastic voice called behind me, causing me to turn. A man probably in his 30s was walking towards us. He had dark brown hair and the same-colored eyes.

"I'm Dr. Kohn, pleasure to have you here." He said shaking my hand with a warm smile. "Pleasure is mine." I replied with a smile. "What can I help with." I asked. All this while, I could feel Jem's presence behind me. I swear to God, that man.

"We had patient with a bullet wound rushed in the emergency room around an hour ago. We have removed the bullet, it wasn't too deep. But the patient has appendicitis, so the wound has worsened. We have given meds, but he isn't responding. We think it's his mental illness. He doesn't want to live." He explained as we walked.

"Is his family here." I asked, furrowing my brows. "Yes, but we haven't informed him about this. We thought we will after we have a word from you." He said and I nodded. "Where are we heading." I asked. "The operation room." He answered curtly and I felt Jem halt behind me. Giving him a questioning glance, I walked forward.

"What's the patients name, we have to connect to his therapist or phycologist immediately." I said. "Lorenzo Giordano." Dr. Kohn said and stopped dead. "I'm sorry what." I asked, not believing my ears. "Lorenzo Giordano." He answered surprised by my actions. "Is there a problem, Dr. Davis." He asked concerned.

"He is a friend. I'm his therapist." I said looking at Jem in shock, but his eyes were hard and cold, filled with regret. "That's good then, you know his history." Dr. Kohn said smiling lightly. "Yes, that's why, I need to see him immediately." I said turning my attention to him from Jem. "This is a very sensitive case, Dr. Kohn. I need your best team of trauma surgeons." I said sternly before walking swiftly with him.

As I entered the corridor, I saw Sal and Dylan, sitting on the chairs. They all were bruised and bandaged. Their faces were pale and tired, they were both mentally and physically exhausted. Their eyes held confusion when I passed by them and entered the room.

Time to get to work.

Sal's POV

"Why is Rose here." I asked Jem who had walked behind Rose. "She had conference here and she was called here on an emergency." He answered, running a hand through his hair. "How is mom." I asked immediately. "She is awake, and she is fine. Jule is with her." He answered.
