Chapter 23

Jess's POV

The air in the living room in is thick with mixed emotions, suffocating me. After I relived my identity, Jase was in pure shock, and when he is in shock all of hell breaks loose. Even Jem was shocked but composed himself in seconds time. Jem had called everyone to the living room for an urgent family meeting and I was surprised to see that everyone came within minutes.

So here I am, standing in the center of the room in perfect silence after I finished telling them everything. "So, let me get this straight, you are the Elenore, the one who everyone fears in the underworld." Sal said pointing his index finger as he tried to absorb the information. "Yes." I simply replied, enjoying the confusion of my siblings.

"How can my little sister possibly be such a deadly assassin." Jazz whispered more to herself. Joy and Jule were the only once who hadn't uttered one word. Enzo and Jase were pacing around the room with their eyebrows knitted. Sal was in utter shock and his jaw was slightly one, Jazz had a worried look and Jem...well Jem had his usual business look.

"Why are you both quite." I asked motioning to Jule and Joy. "I'm really proud." Jule said nodding his head and gave be a small tight smile which didn't reach his eyes. "But..." I asked. "It's just that, you are a child, I don't want you to see the cruel world. I just want you to innocent like you were." He said in a small voice and Joy agreed. "I'm not two, Jule." I said. "I know, I know, like I said, I am proud." He said.

"Why." Jem asked his gaze fixed on me. "Why did you become one." He completed. "I have been training since I was six, but I still was scared when I was being chased. So I trained more vigorously. Axel used not allow my to practice with the blades, but I secretly used to go there at night and train myself." I said, at first I used to be so scared to sneak outside the house at night, but after I had my priorities sorted, I knew what was to be done.

"Mom didn't find out." Enzo asked stopping on his tracks. "I'm good in covering my tracks." I said with a smirk. "Oh we know." Jase spat rolling his eyes. "Anyway, I used to watch him train with it, so I just replayed his motions in my mind and trained by myself, after a while I was better at it. Once I was coming from school and I somehow lost my way, I saw this street fight happening and it looked fun, so I joined them. They were impressed by my skills and gave me a more advanced training. That's how I  became an assassin." I said remembering everything in my mind.

"But that's illegal." Enzo said. "Oh your the one to talk." I said with sarcasm and rolled my eyes. "Then how come you didn't know about the Mafia." Jem asked. "Everyone was very protective of me so they never talked or mentioned about any mafia near me. Although I have heard your name sometimes, I didn't know why it didn't strike." I said pointing at Jem who stared at me blankly. 

"So you are an assassin because it's fun." Joy asked. "No because it something which reminds me that I'm not weak or vulnerable." I said looking at her blue eyes. "Okay I really can't progress any of this, our lives are so fucked up." Sal running a hand through his blonde hair. "What do you say." Jule turned to Jem and asked.

"I'm proud that you know self defense and that your skills with the blades beyond good. But you are just 13, a child and I will not let my little sister to do street fighting. I know it gives you reassurance but that is not you, you know that and I do too. You will not be an assassin as long as you are in my care, you will grow like a normal child." He said sternly. 

"Yea I'll grow up as a normal teenager knowing that my brother is the capo of the Italian Mafia, sure." I said sarcastically. "Jess I was born for the position, weather I like it or not I am Capo." He said, which made me wonder if really wanted to be in Mafia. Jem is a person who acts cold outside but when he lets down his guard he just a fun loving big brother.
