Third person's POV
There is one thing common between a story and real life, it all starts from page one. And as the pages keep turning you get deeper and deeper in the story. People say that one should write their own tale, but for the Giordano's, the story was written before they even set foot on earth. Their path for life determined before they spoke a word. No one cared if they were happy or satisfied, their duties must be followed and fulfilled.
Jessica never wanted to go deep in the story which was not written by her. But a mere mistake made by twelve year old who was clouded by anger and guilt changed her life. The decision made her see blood curling tortures that no one ever should. But then she didn't know that she was destined to go through that path, the path which was decided by others for her.
And now she is neck deep, drowning in the misery and guilt, and wanting for a hand that will lift her from the dark waters. A hand that will left her so that she can feel the soft grass under her feet again. But little did she know, that hand would never come, she must find that within her. For she is the only one who can save herself.
Jess's POV
The unpleasant smell of sweat, blood and death ruptured through my nose, bringing my body out of drugged trance I was in. I scrunched my nose in disgust as I felt the pungent smell grew thicker. My eye fluttered open only to be greeted with blurry motions of black and white. My head was throbbing and I bit my lip to stop me from groaning as it passed through my whole body.
My thoughts were going in a endless circle but all I was grasping was straws. I felt the familiar churning of my stomach and my chest tightened. Breathing seemed like a luxury to me, as I did by best to control the panic attack.
"Jess breath, we going to be find." A smoothening voice said as I fisted my hands which were painfully tied back. "Breath Jess, think about the something smoothening memory." The voice repeated. "Imagine you are on the field, the ball in your hand as you dribble it swiftly, the crowd is chanting your name, you family is standing and clapping loudly, pride shining in their eyes. Think about all your matches Jess, relax in them." The voice said, it was oddly familiar, like I have known this person from somewhere.
The voice managed to help me form a vivid image of my previous matches, the once all my siblings were there. Pain shot through my body as realization hit like a rock. I was kidnapped. I was kidnapped by the bloody Russians. I don't know if I will be to survive here, keeping in mind the way Russians torture their prisoners. And for the top, my family has been there arch rivals for generation. My mind wandered to the last time I talked with me family, I yelled at Jem. Wow, that might be the last time I spoke to him and I yelled at him.
"You okay there." The mysterious voice said. I snapped out of my thoughts, and locked eyes with a familiar grey eyes. "Grace" I whispered as I saw my friend. But I barely recognized her. Scars and filth littered every inch of her body. But her eyes, the light grey eyes still had childish humor, warmth and hope in them. "Oh my god, what have they done do you." I whispered, astounded. Hot tears burned in my eyes as I looked at her.
"What happened tell me everything." I asked, relaxing my hands in the tight ropes. "I was coming back from school, and I pleaded my driver for some ice cream. We stopped at a small roadside shop. I wanted to use the washroom, and when I was coming back, a man drugged me, I couldn't shout of help and it all happened so sudden and I wasn't able to defend myself." She said.
"What do they do to you." I asked, my voice was barely audible. "They drown me everyday in the morning and then the torture starts, it seems endless. At first I felt the pain, excruciating pain but then it just became numb, I just couldn't feel anything." She said, her voice cracking. Numbness, it's the last stage. There is a reason we feel pain, when you do not feel anything, you loose a part of yourself.
