Jazz's POV
"And I know the Russian's torturing method, I have gone through it myself." I spat back with tears of both anger and pain running down my face.
"What does that mean." A weak voice asked behind me. I slowly turned to see Jess looking at me with half opened eyes yet a curious expression. "Jess." I said softly, confused. "How- you're not supposed to be awake for another hour and half." Jule asked genuinely confused. "I'm immune to most of the drugs Jule." She replied with a light chuckle. "You should be happy that the alcohol didn't wear off during the surgery." She added with a smirk.
"Now what did you mean." She asked looking deep into my soul. "That is something you don't need to know." Jem states firmly behind me. "But-"she started. "No buts, you need rest, we will leave in two days and you will be at home for one week." Jem said leaving no room for arguments.
"I'll call the doctor." Jule said and left the room hurriedly. "How are you feeling." I asked taking her hand. "Good, only a slight pain on my back." She said with a soft smile. Slight pain, god Jess how brave are you. "I don't understand." She whispered to herself, looking into blank space. "What do you not understand baby girl." I asked stroking her cheek. "The attack. It doesn't make sense. They had plenty of opportunities to kidnap me out you, but they didn't." She whispered.
"Jess, you had a bullet on your back and you are trying to figure out the attack." Jem asked reading my mind. "Well we are alike that I thought, aren't we." She said and Jem smiled softly. "But think about it Jem, they had a lot of opportunities to kidnap us but they didn't. Even when Joy was kidnapped thy made sure they left breadcrumbs. None of this makes sense." She said running a hand through her face and winced due the the needles in her hand.
I turned to look at Jem and I knew he was having the same thought inside his grumpy head. "Jess please rest and leave it to me to deal with that." He said in a light voice. "It's always there in the back of my mind." She whispered looking at the other side.
"I want mommy." Her voice was as light as feather, almost inaudible. My chest tightened seeing her painful expression but I knew I couldn't do anything about. The pain of loosing someone always remains, no matter how long at has been or how hard you try to get rid of it, it will always be there in the bottom of your heart.
I averted my eyes to Jem, whose eyes were hard as stone. Usually he shows me all his emotions but now it's completely different. "I'll be out." I said and walked outside the door. Just the Jule came in with the doctor. Seeing my blank face he stood behind as the doctor went in to do her work.
"What happened Jazz." He asked looking deep into my eyes. "Nothing. It's just the situation." I said looking at the ground. "You are horrible in telling lies." He chuckled. I can lie but to my family, never. It was something which my parents drilled in my head since I was born, so even if I wanted to lie, I couldn't.
"Tell me." He begged. "Your the younger one here Jule, don't try to take my burden." I said and walked to the vending machine. Munching on the KitKat bar I opened my email for the job offer, without thinking for another second, I accepted it. I'm tired of this life, the life where I'm constantly chased, the life where I have to live under the shadows of my father and brother. It's high time I listen to my heart.

Jess's POV
After the doctor went away taking my vitals, it was only Jem and I. Jule said he'll take care of the formalities, while Jem stayed with me. I was trying to find dots, a small clue to find the reason behind the attack, but no, zilch. I could feel Jem's burning gaze on the side of my face but I dared to turn and meet his eyes.
