AU where all these guys are mortal

Annabeth's POV

"AND GOODE TAKES THE GAME FOLKS! THATS TEN GAMES IN A ROW! THEY ARE UNDEFEATED!" The student announcer's voice rained over the football field. Ever since the new quarterback got here the team had been doing amazing. Goode's football team was literal trash but its turned around since then. Every single game since the beginning of the school year was amazing!

"Who even is the new guy?" I asked Piper who was still shaking her pom-poms in the air and jumping around.

"His name is like Peter or something. I have him in my math class. He's hot but not my type."

"Because Jason is your type?" I raised an eyebrow at her.  She had been crushing on Jason since we were freshmen.

"I just think that blonde linebackers who happen to be in almost all my classes are cute." She huffed and held her head towards the sky. The football team in the middle continued to celebrate slapping the new kid on his back.

"What do you know about the new kid?"

"Wow never thought you'd be so interested in a guy... but if you insist. I know he plays football, it's very apparent. He's on the swim team, plays water polo, basketball, his mom is a New York Times Best Selling  Author. I think he has a little sister..... yep that's all I know."

As soon as Piper finished three of the boys ran towards us. It was Jason, Frank, and the new kid.

"Hey. Have you guys seen Hazel?" Frank asked

"She went to go put her pom-poms in her cheer bag." Frank dashed off and Piper and Jason kept talking. I don't understand how she can keep her cool around the guy she likes. The other year I liked this senior named Luke. He was a total jerk though, as most of the guys I end up dating.

I got a good look at the new kid. He had dark black hair and sea-green eyes which stared into my grey ones. "Hi, I'm Percy." He reached his hand out and I shook it.

"Annabeth," I replied. A goofy smirk spread on his face. We ended up talking for a while and didn't even notice Piper and Jason left. Guess I wasn't getting a ride home from her.

"What's wrong?" Percy asked. He must've noticed my look of frustration with Piper blowing me off for a guy.

"Piper. She was my ride home. I have homework to get done and I might end up calling my stepmom which is the last thing I wanna do." The field and stands were almost empty except for the weird kids who end up making out under the bleachers.

"I can drive you home... That is only if you want. I don't have to, but you seem like you need it. I don't want you to think I'm kidnapping you because I'm not trust me. Unless you don't trust me because that's understandable, we just met." He was rambling and a slight blush crept onto his cheeks.

"I'll take a ride. I can do homework in the car I guess."

~~~~~~~~~~
After Percy got all his gear off I met him in the parking lot. I hoped in a car which was his stepdad's Prius, and handed him a paper with my address. He turned up the radio and a Taylor Swift song came on.
But she wears short skirts
I wear T-shirts
She's Cheer Captain, and I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time
Percy sang every word and I looked at him with wide eyes and burst into laughter. "Tell me why you know all the words?" I continued to laugh and ended up covering my mouth with my hand to stop.
"My sister loves Taylor Swift. It's the only thing playing at my house so I've memorized all of the songs."
We went back to silence and I continued my algebra homework.
"How can you solve that?" Percy glanced down at my paper.
"Keep your eyes on the road and make sure we don't die." I didn't look up but I had feeling he was gonna get me killed. The moon from the outside shined in through the windows of the car. It was a nice night, especially for a game. The air was crisp and cool, but it was around 9ish so it was dark outside. Only the moon and the passing street lamps lit the darkness. He finally pulled up to my family's apartment building. He got out of the car and opened the door for me.
"Thanks." I said and my breath formed a cloud of air from the cold night. It was a good thing I wore my long sleeved uniform.
"Of course. Who knew we lived in the same apartment building." He smiled and shrugged.
"Oh your the family who moved in across the hall!" I had remembered seeing a family move in, but didn't see their faces.
"That's us." We continued to have a real conversation and used the stairs as an excuse to continue to talk. We didn't agree on the stairs verbally but both knew we wanted to.
When we got to our floor I was a little sad but now I have a carpool buddy in the morning!
"I know you are in all AP classes but maybe I'll see you around. You gonna be at next week's game?" Percy asked before I put the key into my apartment door. I put the silver key back in my pocket.
"Yep. Don't worry Percy, I'll be your cheerleader." His face turned to a goofy smirk and I laughed. "See you around." I walked through the door to find my step mom screaming again. I ignored her because the blush rising to cheeks was intense. I quickly got dressed and fell asleep on my bed.
