The plan was simple and straightforward, now all Annabeth could do is hope that Percy wasn't gonna mess it up. Annabeth was attending a coronation for her friend Reyna who was being crowned queen. She wished her parents would let her be more like Reyna. She was independent, and lord knows she didn't anyone telling her when or how to do things. She was completely capable on her own.
Annabeth was sat next to Luke for the entirety of the ceremony. It was torture. Percy was in the back with her other friends who she so desperately wished she could hang out with. Yet there were rules, one she was going to break soon, very soon.
During the reception Annabeth congratulated Reyna and Percy came over at the same time. They agreed if they were gonna pull this off they needed Reyna on board.
"Grand foyer, say 20 minutes?" Annabeth said. Reyna could tell by Annabeth's face that this was gonna be good.
When they met in the grand entrance Reyna was ready for whatever was coming. All three of them were alone in the huge room.
"We have an idea..." Percy pulled his mouth into a troublemaker grin. He explained it all the Reyna. He explained the Romeo and Juliet situation, their plan, everything.
Annabeth knew her real mom was coming back soon. She was the queen but left to go defend Athenia's borders with the troops. Her mom has been gone for about 3 years now. She got a letter here and there but other than not much news. All Annabeth ever wanted was to go with her real mom and help out with war strategies. She was denied going because she was a princess and had "important responsibilities".
"Seems straightforward enough. I wish you guys luck recruiting your mother Annabeth." Reyna nodded and walked back to the reception.
Percy looked to Annabeth and the pair smiled at each other. She kissed him since this was probably the only time they could be alone. Percy blushed but was trying to hide it. He got kinda embarrassed whoever she made him blush. They intentionally entered through opposite ends of the huge ballroom so no one would know they were together. Annabeth weaved her way through the ballgowns and suits to find herself staining in front of Luke. Kinda the person she was hoping to avoid. He offered his hand out and she took it, hesitantly. They went to the dance floor and danced. It wasn't very enjoyable for her. She watched Percy who was dancing with a redhead. She watched Percy crack a joke and smile. She had never seen the girl before. Annabeth redirected her attention at Luke who was looking at her. She faked a smile. She curtsied and Luke bowed after the dance like everyone else. Her short blue dress swayed as she walked over to Percy and the other girl.
"Princess Annabeth," Percy smirked as he bowed. She always told him not to address her formally. She hated when he did it.
The redhead bowed her head as Percy stood back up fully.
"I'm Rachel." She stuck her hand out and Annabeth shook it. "Rachel Elizabeth Dare."
The Dare family. They weren't royals like Percy or Annabeth, they were a rich noble family.
"Annabeth." She said. Rachel smiled.

That evening, while people were leaving Percy and Annabeth, were on the balcony that overlooked the mountains from the ballroom. They watched the sunset and the stars start to take over the sky.
"You know I think the plan will be ready soon," Percy said turning to Annabeth who looked forward.
"Hopefully. With Reyna's help, there is no doubt we can pull this off. You know you don't have to do any of this for me. I can just marry Luke when we are both of age." Annabeth leaned her head on his shoulder.
