If you've read my fanfic this is how it was supposed to go with Annabeth moving to California but then again, changed it. Also if you spot any typos comment and I'll fix it cause I can never spot mine during read throughs XD
Percy rushed around his apartment. How does one mentally, or even physically prepare for something like this? He tried to do his hair but it made it look worse, so he just messed it up again. He had been 17 the last time he saw her. He put on a sweatshirt and a beanie then headed towards the famous red stairs in Time Square. Meanwhile Annabeth was as calm as she could possibly be. It couldn't be so hard. She pulled her hair back and laced up some combat boots. It had been starting to get cold out so she slipped on a nice jacket and a scarf. Stuffing her hands in her pockets, she waited on the steps, checking her phone every once and a while.

She rolled her eyes knowing Percy would most likely be late. Back in high school she would always tell him to get there at an earlier time, that way when they actually had a date he would be on time. When it turned five o'clock she could spot him running though crowds. She only noticed him because of the same messy hair, and the sea green eyes. The things abut him she never knew that she missed.
"Five on the dot." He smirked. Annabeth just laughed. She walked down the steps and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"First time that your actually not late Seaweed Brain." She said as they pulled away.
"Thought we would've grown out of the nicknames, Wise Girl?"
"Yeah, yeah."
They stood there not really knowing what to say or do. It was like they were both meeting again for the first time. Except a lot differently. The first time they formally met was in a truth or dare game and they were in a closet. Now they were in New York and standing on the red staircase.
"You know when my sister told me about her volunteering I could've sworn I had a hunch it was you working there."
"Really? Why so?"
"Well Athena, your favorite goddess. Architecture, I mean, you get the point. It was easy to piece together but I was to scared to actually ask you." Percy's face reddened a little and that made Annabeth blush a tad too.

"Estelle, they've been standing there for the past 20 minutes just looking at each other."
Estelle looked to her friends who had come to help her spy on the pair. She knew that if there was anything she could do, it was play matchmaker. Especially when it came to her brother.
"I know. These two need a push. Hand me that mocha." She took the mocha her friend had been drinking and swiftly threw it to where Annabeth and Percy were standing. She ended up hitting Percy straight in the face. As soon as he was hit the teenagers dispersed in the hopes they wouldn't be caught.

"What the heck???" Percy wiped the coffee that had gotten in his eyes and Annabeth was cracking up. She knew she should've been helping him but she just couldn't stop laughing. The last time she laughed like she was at the moment, was, well a long time ago. Probably when her and Percy were dating in high school.
His jacket turned from a nice blue to a dark brown mess. He laughed and wiped it off his face. He grinned, took his hand and steered some coffee on Annabeth's face.
"That's not fair!! You got hit!" She playfully slapped his arm and Percy fought back from her hand.
Estelle, who was watching from afar was enjoying the fact that she hit her brother with a coffee, and got the two to get act like a couple again. It was a glorious moment for her confidence.
By that evening Annabeth and Percy looked as if nothing ever happened. They strolled side by side, laughing, if you didn't know them you could've guessed they were married. It was dark and getting colder by the second but the bright lit Time Square looked as if it were day.
"I had fun." Annabeth said, smiling.
"Yeah me too." Percy still smelled a little like coffee but at this point he didn't care. He got to meet with the girl who he was still so ever in love with. Sure he imagined it would be a lot sooner then years later, but non then less it was amazing.
"I'll see you sister next Friday, so maybe we can hang out before then."
"Or how abut this. I take you on a date." He smirked. Annabeth just rolled her eyes and agreed.
"Fine but if there is any truth or dare involved I'm out."
"Why don't wanna be in a closet again?"
"Oh haha. You pick a movie and I'll see you at your place in week?"
Percy nodded his head and Annabeth rushed down the stairs in the subway station. He watched as she vanished into the underground of New York City. Percy breathed out, as if he had been holding his breath the entire time. He then turned around and closed his eyes.
"Estelle I know your there."
She came out from behind the H&M building and awkwardly smiled.
"Heyyyy Percy....I'm gonna go now." She tried to dash but Percy caught her.
"I won't tell mom if you give me your blue cookie next week."
Estelle frowned and tried to squirm from her brother's arms. She gave up and gave into Percy's deal.

Back at Annabeth's apartment she felt her heart flutter. It was a feeling she missed. All the memories of when her and Percy said 'I love you' came rushing back in like a river. She regretted not reconnecting with Percy sooner but something inside her felt different. Like the scars of her past were suddenly healed by someone she always needed in her life, someone she loved, it was fate.
Estelle playing matchmaker is one of my favorite headcannons. Like she ain't an Aphrodite kid but this girl prob has some mad game.
