Let the Games Begin Pt. 3

The entire last half of the week was chaos. Usually, at breakfast, everyone was still friendly and hadn't put on their game faces yet, but now that the games were in the final stretch everyone was serious about it. Annabeth had been thoroughly planning their strategy for the final capture the flag game. It was her team against Clarisse. The two teams were the expected turn out after the back and forth during the week. Luke's team was put with Clarisse's but if they won only the original members of the team would get a bead, not Luke's team. Will joined Annabeth. 

"Our flag isn't gonna be here by Zeus's Fist. It's a common spot but it's easy to defend. Will, you can handle the top, Percy and I will guard the bottom, Grover...uhh the usual. All the kiddos of ages 7-10 will help us defend. Ages 11-15 you guys are gonna go search for the other team's flag and from there we can discuss retrieving it. Got it?" Annabeth explained thoroughly and asked the group. Everyone nodded. 

Percy, Annabeth, and Will waited silently. Grover sat in front of a bush humming a small tune and waiting for anyone to walk by so he could trip them. Usually, he would hide by a tree or something but Annabeth now used him for otherwise. Annabeth furrowed her eyebrows. It was silent except for the wind blowing and the kids giggling a little. Annabeth always made sure the kids had fun but she also was gonna make sure they would win. Percy glanced over at her, she looked as if she was trying to solve the world's hardest algebra problem but somehow already knew the answer. 

Just then one of the 13-year-olds from Will's team came back. 

"We found the flag! They're hiding it on one of the rocks in the lake!" They shouted. 

Percy raised an eyebrow. Interesting spot.

"Great..." She said thinking again. She went through her mental notes then she landed on Percy. She noticed he was a strong swimmer when he decided to go swimming during the free time at the end of the day. 

She looked at him and they silently agreed.

Percy swam underwater. The rock was left unguarded but they had addressed that before the plan was set in motion. Annabeth figured they were in the woods since one of the edges of the woods looked out over the lake. Will helped her take out the people there and they waited on the edge watching Percy swim. 

Will nudged her. 

"So you and Percy?" 

Annabeth rolled her eyes. 

"Percy is a Seaweed Brain." She said in defense. 

"Then why'd you pick him to be on your team?" Will eyed her. 

Will was a nice guy but he was good friends with Annabeth, he had the right to ask her about these things.

"Because I needed to use him as bait for capturing the flag. Now let's make sure we win this." She directed their focus back on Percy who was close to the rock. Annabeth spotted some movement in the bushes and shot her nerf gun in the direction. 

Percy climbed onto the rock and Annabeth felt heat rising to her face. He had done the practical thing to take off his shirt to swim. She looked away and Will laughed at her. 

"Hey!" She said, "You should be looking away too! You have a boyfriend!" 

"It's not like I'm into Percy, like others I know." He looked to her and Annabeth swatted him away with her hands. 

They watched as Percy grabbed the flag. He slipped his orange camp shirt back on and they started to run back to Zeus's fist to claim their win. They were suddenly stopped by Luke who had his nerf gun locked and loaded.
