If you find typos tell me lol. I didn't use my grammarly on this 😅

Annabeth's POV

"Percy put those over there! Annabeth go ahead and move those tables over there. Perfect!" Sally was moving things around in the ballroom for the business gala. Percy nudged me and I was pulling a small table. I nudged him back a little harder. Then it was back and forth until I knocked him over. I started laughing uncontrollably. His eyebrows furrowed and he frowned.

"HEY!" He complained.

"Uhh, Perce did you go surfing today?" I asked getting distracted from supposedly helping him up.

He nodded and then I bent down to pluck the small strand of seaweed in his hair. I pulled it out and showed it to him.

"Oh- well then. Mind helping me up now?"

I offered out my hand but before he could grab it I pulled away.

"Not a chance...Seaweed Brain."

Percy's POV

If Annabeth had some kind of nickname for me now it was only fair I came up with one for her. But....one slight issue. I have no idea what to call her. I mean I call her Beth sometimes and she calls me Perce but now it seems it's always Seaweed Brain. The gala was in 2 weeks and then after she was leaving. The last almost month now with her was amazing! Sometimes I wish I had the guts to ask her out on a real date but whenever I tried my brain was literal seaweed, guess the nickname did fit pretty well.

I stopped by her room and the door swung open, but it wasn't Annabeth. It was her dad.

"Ah, you must be the boy my daughter has been running around with." His tone caused me to gulp.

"Dad! Let it go already! OH MY GOD!" Annabeth came up in the doorway.

Her dad gave her a glare and she silenced herself. He eyed me and then moved out of the way with a grumble. Annabeth came forward and was red with anger. She mumbled something I couldn't hear and then shut the door, leaving us in the hallway. She let out an exasperated breath and then turned to me.

"So your dad's kinda..."

"Strict, scary, irritating, impertinent?" She was looking down at the floor, her tone was very annoyed. "He barely even notices me, he has no right to tell me who I can and can't be friends with!"

I took that she must've had some conversation with her dad about me. Something bad I'm assuming.

"Hey, why don't we go to the staff kitchen? Bet we can snag the extra pastries from breakfast."

She looked up and met my eyes.

"Yeah, okay."

We had been able to grab some. Just a little bit since we weren't that hungry. Annabeth and I ate on the tables outside. I'm lucky to have been able to show her a lot of the island. Hawaii had a lot of rich and beautiful history, I really do love living here.

Annabeth's POV

With all the time I've been spending with Percy and how little my dad cares about me, I don't get why he was so upset. He lectured me about how I have responsibilities and how I can't be going around with a friend all day. Then he started talking about how Percy was a bad influence! I CAN'T BELIEVE HIM! He doesn't know Percy! He can't say those things! The older I get the less my dad cares about me.

I was staring at the cookie in my hand when Percy nudged me. I was shaken out of my thoughts and he gave me a reassuring look.

"You okay?" He asked. His smile made my stomach churn.

"Be better if my dad wasn't such a pain in the-"

Percy cut me off.

"OK!! We are stopping there cause there are children over there." He pointed to the table behind us and we both laughed.

It was strange how weird Percy makes me feel. Not that it was bad, a good weird. Like sometimes I want to strangle him, but I also do like him. He's lucky to have all these people to surround him. More like these people are lucky to have him. Sometimes he says things that are really stupid but then he smiles and it's instantly just something hilarious. I wish I could stay here forever. When I first got here I thought Hawaii was just going to be humid and boring, but it's turned into my new favorite place.

When we both finished the pastries we we're going to go check on Sally in the ballroom. When we arrived it was empty except for music playing, the song was vaguely familiar. Sally said she was going to be here all day, she must've taken an early lunch or something. Percy walked over to the table where a phone rested playing music.

"Dang it mom." He said under his breath. I walked over and looked at the phone.

"What's up?"

"She- aw man. This is embarrassing. She made this playlist of all the songs I liked when I was younger. She must've been listening to it and left her phone here."

"That's not embarrassing! It's adorable!!" I scrolled through the playlist. "Dude, Taylor Swift?"

"HEY! THEY ARE GOOD SONGS! You like them too! Don't deny it." He protested. I rolled my eyes with a laugh and kept going until I landed on Riptide by Vance Joy.

"Oh I love this song!"

If you've read my other fanfics I'm a sucker for a slow dance percabeth 😂

Percy's POV

Annabeth grabbed my hand which made my face red. It was a good thing she was facing the other direction. There was an empty space in the middle of the room and she placed her arms on my shoulders.

"You know how to do this right? Cause if not I'm going to end up dancing with Luke at the gala and that's not what I want."

I had never heard her mention the name Luke before.

"I- uh- I mean I'm usually in the corner at school dances. Who's this Luke guy?" I asked.

"He's my dad's coworker's son. Luke is very interesting. He has the right ideas just wrong motives."

I nodded my head. Somehow my hands had found the way to her waist where they rested. I was still acting like a nervous wreck.

"...so...."

"I don't bite Seaweed Brain." She said.

We danced to the song and even goofed off a little. It was fun, just like all the other times we hang out. Yeah...until a worker came in and cleared their throat. We jumped apart and excused ourselves frantically. When we exited the room we both looked at each other and started laughing. We both recovered and her phone rang. She rolled her eyes, my guess it was her dad.

"Your dad?"

"Yeah. I better go before I get lectured again. See you later Perce." She kissed my cheek. She turned her head back while she walking away. Annabeth smiled at then got in an elevator to go up to her room.

I stood there. For how long? I have no idea. I couldn't move, I could barely remember my name. It was a petty kiss on the cheek but somehow it sent me into total shock.

Part 3 coming soon!! Ahh I love this so far! Coffee AU and this one are my new favs! Again, thanks to OfficalSeaweedBrain for requesting this!! I am truly loving it!
