Okay look, I have no idea what Percabeth would name their kid but I like Shelby. 😌 This isn't exactly Percabeth but I had fun lmao
Shelby's POV
Look, I didn't want to go to Camp Half-Blood.
I rolled out of bed as the light peeking through my window shades streamed in. I groaned and made my way to the kitchen, not even bothering to brush my hair.
"Hey! Ready for the first day of summer!" My dad smiled as he made my breakfast. My guess was blue pancakes.
"Is mom still asleep?" I asked as I grabbed some Gatorade from the fridge.
Like my dad, we both had a thing for blue food. It just tastes better, fight me. My grandma used to make my dad blue food all the time. It was like their thing, but now it's all of our things! Whenever we visit grandma she'll let me help her bake blue cookies.
"She's in the bathroom right now." My dad answered and he flipped the pancake over.
It was perfectly cooked. Not raw, but not burnt, just perfect.
I helped set the table for breakfast and we waited for my mom to come out of the bathroom. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail per usual and she kissed me on the head before sitting down.
"Don't I get a kiss?" My dad complained. She rolled her eyes and got up to give him a peck on the head.
I made barf noises and they both looked at me. I gave them a look like "do you think I care???" My mom rolled her eyes and sat back down.
"Your dad gave that face to the gods. Multiple times."
"Hell yeah, I did!" He put his hand out and I high-fived him.
After breakfast, we cleaned up the house since we would be gone for the summer. I wanted to stay home so bad but my parents said no. They were taking me to Camp Half-Blood. The last place I wanted to be. I kept convincing them to put it off for as long as I can remember. I just wanna hang around with my mortal friends like a regular and normal kid. Then I turned 13 and they refused to keep my home any longer. I'm not the nervous type. In fact, I'm never nervous. I'm that kid in school who isn't afraid to read their essay out loud, the one who isn't afraid to stand up for people, the one who isn't afraid to raise their hand in class. Something about going to a camp full of demigods just made me nervous though...
I'm like the newbie, I don't like being the newbie. I straightened out my room just as my mom instructed. I took a glance at my corkboard that had a bunch of pictures of my mortal friends and me. The corkboard used to be in the kitchen but then we moved it to my room cause it soon became only my friends. I was fixing a crooked photo when one fell out from the pin. I picked it up to find an interesting sight.
A young blonde girl with a grey streak in her hair and was sitting next to a boy with dark black hair with a matching streak. Both of them laughing and smiling. Under the picture on the white part of the polaroid, there was a little caption.
CHB
That's when I realized it. My parents...as kids...
I shifted under the pictures of my friends to find more of the old photos. There was one with a boy with goat legs, clearly Grover. Another with a picture of my parents again. They looked only a couple of years older than me. I knew they were both 16 though. Mostly because my mom was kissing my dad's cheek which meant they had already been dating. The last picture I found sent a shiver down my spine. It was a huge group photo. My parents, Grover, Thalia, Reyna, Hazel, Nico, Will, Frank, Jason, Piper, Leo, Katie, Travis, Conner, Juniper, Clarisse, etc. They had so many friends.
