Annabeth's POV
5th grade
"64!" I shouted. The teacher didn't even call on me, I just shot up my hand and answered.
"Red team one point. Red team is wining with 26 correct answers! Blue team better get working. Let's take a quick break and we will start again at 1:30." The teacher said setting down the flash cards. At the end of each semester we had a math competition. The wining half of the class got ice cream for the next semester!
I walked to the other side of the classroom.
"C'mon you gonna start trying yet Jackson? Your team sucks." I said poking fun at him.
"Well thats only cause you picked all the smart kids." Percy complained crossing his arms.
"It's not my fault I didn't pick all of your friends first. Just to let you know Percy, we are getting that ice cream."
"In you dreams Annabeth."
We won.

7th grade
"Seriously Percy! You can never win can you?" I teased him through the volleyball net between us. Piper bumped the ball up and I spiked it. The ball came crashing down on Percy's team who was groaning from the loss.
"I win Jackson."
"Well played Chase, well played." He smirked and looked at me with a weird glint in his eyes.
"What?" I asked as he stared at me.
"Nothing. I'll see you at the student council meeting though. My idea is going to win for the dance next Friday." His idea? Was he serious? His idea was ocean or beach themed. Mine was way better.
Student Council Meeting
"So I propose that we do an Under the Sea theme! We could have blue streamers! Or use all those leftover light show things from the Christmas parade to make bubble on the walls!" Percy presented his idea to us. It was smart but every school does Under the Sea. Like every single school dance is Under the Sea themed.
"Good idea Percy! Annabeth your next." Silena, student council president, called me to the front of the classroom.
"As wonderful as Under the Sea sounds," I shot a glare with a cheesy smile at Percy "We should do something different. Since Valentines Day is right around the corner, and if the school allows us the push the dance to next, next Friday we could do a Valentines Day dance. Yet, I'm pretty sure everyone else will be cringing at it sooo..."
I picked up the white board pen I had set aside. I wrote down
GLOW IN THE DARK
I nodded to one of the 6th graders who switched off the lights. The words on the white board were glowing a bright green. As well as other desks and things in the room I painted glow in the dark before the meeting.
"Woah! Nice Annabeth! I love it! I think we have a dance idea!" Silena clapped her hand excitedly, she also exchanged nods with the 8th graders to confirm.
"Wait a second! Is that glow in the dark paint permanent? Then we might have a problem, right Silena?" Percy asked. He was really pushing for the ocean. Luckily I came prepared for this question.
"Actually Percy all you need is a wet cloth and it comes off in an instant." I took a paper towel and used the classroom sink to wet it. I quickly wiped over the green and it vanished. Percy just rolled his eyes. Someone turned the light back on and Silena started to stand up.
"Thanks guys, those were some great ideas. Annabeth I do think we are going to go with yours though. Your presentation was fabulous, we'll start getting a bunch of glow-sticks." The council walked out and left me and Percy by ourselves.
"I hate you Chase." Percy said with a rude tone, it sounded like he was going to cry.

High school
"Give up already." I shouted across the room to Percy. I quickly placed on the final details. Then I slapped the red buzzer in front of me. "Done!" I shouted. Percy threw the icing tube he was holding into the counter angrily.
"Wow! Thats not a gingerbread house thats the-" One of teachers was judging this years gingerbread decorating contest. With both me and Percy in the finals I had to win.
"The Parthenon. Yep!" I finished the sentence.
I took home the small trophy and placed it on my shelf with all the other ones. The doorbell rang and I rushed down stars to open it.
"Oh! Um hi Percy."
"Hey. Um do you mind?" He gestured for me to join him outside. I nodded yes and stepped out into the cold. Luckily I was still in a warm nice blouse. The cold air nibbled at my skin.
"What's up?" I asked. He faced away from me.
"What's up? Really Chase? What's up? What's up is that every year you one up me! Since second grade! Why? We both ran for student council in 8th grade. I brought my mom's blue cookies, you still won. Why can't you let me feel good at something for once! In 5th grade you won every math competition, every sport we ever played. This year you beat me again? Which is why I'm moving schools. It may sound petty but I don't enjoy when I can never actually win at something in my life. I should-"
I whipped him around to face me. Then I grabbed his face and planted a kiss on his lips. He pulled me close and kissed me back. When we both pulled away both of our faces were covered with a blush.
"I- um-" Percy struggled to find words. "What was that for?" Our bodies were still against one another and I was holding his forearms. His hands were around my waist.
"To make you stop talking, and to apologize." I fixed his beanie which was crooked on his head. I smiled and he laughed a little. "I'm sorry I made you feel that way. I never meant too. Truth be told I had a huge crush on you in grade school. I just wanted to show you how amazing, smart, cool, and how brilliant I could be." I blushed a little more, I had never told anyone about why I was so competitive with him. Never in my dreams did I ever think I would tell Percy.
"You liked me?" Percy looked confused and pointed to himself.
"Yeah..." I was red in the face from embarrassment.
"I liked you too. I still like you actually. I wanted to impress you, but you would never give me a chance to. I had an entire plan for the dance in 7th grade. I had everything planned out with my friends to ask you. All I needed was for the theme to be right."
"But, it was glow in the dark." I laughed a bit. Goodness every time I won I ruined his plans.
"Yep. I was going to drop a sea shell in your locker. The plan was perfect, and even today I had a plan."
I started to feel really bad. Like really, really, really bad.
"Well if it makes you feel better I still like you too." I smiled and ruffled his hair. He blushed a little, and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear. "I'll let you win the next competition."
"Nah. I like your competitiveness, its cute."
At this point my brain was mush and I could barely stand. Luckily I was still in Percy's arms.
The snow fell to the ground as we shared another kiss.
This 'twas a very lazy chapter but I hope you guys enjoyed! Also HAPPY BIRTHDAY NICO!!
