"sasuke..."
nami called out as they stood in front of the river.

"what?"
the boy replied.

"the river has plenty of fish but how will we capture them?"
nami asked the uchiha.

sasuke tilted his head and sighed.
"the good old fashioned way."
the duckbutt took off his ninja sandals and rolled up his shorts. he stepped foot into the river and activated his sharingan. he began pulling out fish from the river, and nami smiled as an idea popped into her head. she created 5 shadow clones, each spread out to gather food and material for the night.

a shadow clone was making a bag out of leaves meanwhile 2 others were looking for edible plants. one was protecting the surroundings and one was into the river helping sasuke with the fish.

"i don't understand. you need power. why don't you use the shikatsugan?"
sasuke asked the girl as he placed the fish he caught in a bag that one of nami's shadow clones made.

"using the shikatsugan feels like cheating. i want to be strong like the 4th hokage and all of the previous hokage without the need of such a power. maybe one day i'll even get rid of it."

"we can train together."
sasuke said. he climbed out the river and dried off his feet as well as he could before putting on his ninja sandals. nami was carrying two handmade bags, one with fish and one with several plants.
all of the shadow clones had disappeared.

"eh?! don't you have some sort of goal? i'll slow you down!"
nami whined. in reality, though nami wanted to be strong and not cheat her way out, she was lazy. all she wanted to do was sit back and relax.
perhaps one day, she'll become a housewife and lounge around.

"then how will you train?"
sasuke and nami began to slowly walk back to naruto and sakura.
the two had managed to find food quickly, leaving them with plenty of alone time. sasuke didn't want to waste it, but that would mean coming out of his shell.

"maybe i can train with the hyuga. i've known them for a while and the shikatsugan is closest to the byakugan."

sasuke stopped and looked at nami dead in the eyes.
"you're hiding something about the eye, aren't you?"

"i am. there's plenty of secrets that i recently discovered about the shikatsugan that could bring the shinobi world to an end quickly. maybe i'll tell you them one day, uchiha."

nami began walking in a very slow pace with sasuke right beside her.
the two were a few kilometres away from naruto and sakura, but they knew they'd get there in time. they weren't worried for the night either since nami was with them. they'd always start depending on her, but they don't realize that one day, she'd leave them.

"are you going to tell naruto? why is the eye so dangerous anyway?"
sasuke asked once again. his voice was low and quiet.

"the eye is dangerous because of a certain time limit it possesses. it can be used for dangerous things, it's not technically dangerous. my mind just plays out the worst possible events at the wrong time. naruto most likely will not know about this anytime soon. i don't see why he would need such information."

"you could be wrong."
he says. the two walk and nami still has no idea that sasuke's trying to make things romantic. his hand brushes hers and he tried to hold her hand, but nami has a drop of italian blood in her. as soon as she starts talking, her hands move on her own, making it impossible for sasuke to hold her hand.

"trust me, i'm not wrong when it comes down to the shikatsugan and it's eye-brother, the jōgan."
nami says with a smirk on her face. she was confident in the information the held, but sasuke could see right through her.

"the jōgan?"
he asked.

"it's a much weaker version of the shikatsugan. from what i heard, it seems very cool."

"how much do you want to bet that the next descendant from your bloodline will have the jōgan?"
the uchiha asked confidently.

"uchiha, if the next person who has a single drop of my blood carried the legendary jōgan, i'm going to kiss you. heck, i'll even marry you. i'm confident that no one in this shinobi world will carry the jōgan, and no one after me will carry the shikatsugan."

"i'll be looking forward to the wedding then."
sasuke said with a smirk on his face.
the namikaze couldn't tell if he was kidding or not, but she let it slide.

her cheeks turned bright red as sasuke said those words.
"we'll see in a few years, uchiha."

i love y'all so much.
anyway, i wanted to say happy new years in case i don't update tomorrow :)

this was a chapter to just get closer to sasuke.
the next 1 or 2 chapters will be about the remaining of team 7 and then we get some action

i decided that i will finish the chunin exam arc before taking a short break that will last maximum a month, maybe even less.

quick reminder, i do post more stories and i might make a narutoxreader. drop some ideas here rn and i might make them.

i will be changing the shikatsugan to not make is as op, but changes will happen in part 2 or near the end of part 1.
