it was a little after 8 pm and team 7 had just finishing dining.
as the others were preparing to head to sleep, nami had sneaked into kakashi's room.

"kashi-sensei!"
she whispered. kakashi was still awake, though it didn't really seem like it.

"nami-chan, i need to tell you something."
he said, not realizing the "chan" slipped out.

"what happened today?"
she asked before he could say anything else.

"you awakened a rare dojutsu, but i need you to hide it from everyone."
kakashi said as he gestured the girl to come close to him. suddenly, kakashi felt like he needed to put in a parental role in. she was the daughter of his sensei and she unleashed something outside of her control.

"why is that, sensei?"
her innocence appeared. she looked different than she looked just over 2 hours ago.
her blood thirst was gone.

"i'm going to need you to pretend that you never awoke the shikatsugan."

"shikatsugan..."
she repeated to herself.

"can you do that for me, nami-chan?"
kakashi asked the girl.

nami nodded.
"sensei, i'll become the great pretender and become the strongest kunoichi to exist without the shikatsugan, but why can't others known of it?"

"it's very dangerous and the hokage would be furious."

"understood, sensei."
nami looked around the room and noticed how plain it was. it had a small window and a bed laying in the middle, where kakashi was laying. his chest was wrapped up and his mask was somewhat up, though it was slightly falling down. the walls of the residence weren't thicc and you could hear the noise the other 3 were making in the other room. naruto and sakura got in a discussion, though they were making it louder than intended.

"sensei, why do you always wear your mask? do you wear it when you sleep, too?"
nami asked. she looked at him and smiled, though her eyes didn't seem happy.

"it's a long story, nami,"
kakashi looked at the girl. he could tell her eyes weren't happy eyes, so it was really pure dumbness to try to hide it. nami surely wasn't as good as naruto at hiding her emotions.
and so, kakashi decided to try to care and open to the young girl in front of him.

this is what minato-sensei wants he thought to himself.

"nami, why are you sad?"
he asked.

"i don't know, sensei."

"can you try being happy?"

"how do i do that?"

"nami, can you pretend that you're doing well? pretender for those around you."

"i'll become the great pretender,"
nami said. she cleared her eyes and smiled at him once again.
"i'll try, sensei."

kakashi smiled under his mask and sighed.
"close your eyes."
he told the young girl who sat beside him. nami did as kakashi said.

suddenly, the girl felt the cold air hitting her forehead as her forehead protector was slid down to cover her eyes. to replace the coldness was a kiss.
kakashi slid down his mask and gave nami a kiss on the forehead as a sign of good luck, though it was all in a fatherly manner.
kakashi pulled his mask back up and pulled nami's headband back over her forehead.
"you can open you eyes now."

nami's eyes immediately fell on her sensei. she didn't know how to react, so she pulled her index and middle finger towards him and placed them over his forehead.
"good night, sensei."
