"naruto! you're late!" nami called out as she saw an orange dot approaching them. team 7 and tazuna currently stood at the gates. "you're so excited?"
a white smile was plastered across naruto's face. "it's my first time traveling outside the hidden leaf!"
"it's my first time leaving konoha without being chased by anbu!" nami said, shocking everyone.
"alright, let's go."
team 7 set off on their adventure carefully surrounding tazuna. kakashi guarded the rear white naruto guarded the left. sakura guarded the right with a kunai in her hand. sasuke and nami guarded the front.
it was obvious that the tension was growing between the group. it was quiet and the only sound that was made was by the ninja's shoes hitting the ground. they'd often step into a puddle of water that was obviously new.
"oi, sensei? how long has it been since it rained?" nami asked out of pure curiosity.
"we're being followed." kakashi announced, putting everyone on guard. soon enough, two chunin appeared from the trees, startling all of the fresh genin.
a poisonous arrow came rushing their way, stabbing naruto in the hand. nami rushed to the rescue, but she was held back by kakashi. the group of chunin clashed into a battle with sasuke, and the uchiha surprisingly pulled it off quite well. sakura, having nothing to do, rushes to naruto's rescue.
"naruto!" nami broke from kakashi's grip and she ran towards her twin who was groaning in pain as his hand continues to bleed.
"nami-chan, stay calm!" naruto advised as he could sense panic raising in her. the sky was painted a beautiful blue, contrasting nami's emotions.
the girl took out a medical tape from her bag and began carefully wrapping it around naruto's wound, gently closing it.
"naruto, if you bleed any longer you're going to die from blood loss." she announced. sakura immediately came in and began helping nami who was losing her patience.
"well, nothing's gonna take me down!" naruto said, slamming his injured hand on the ground.
at his stupidness, nami threw a punch at his head and walked back to kakashi, who was about 6 steps behind her.
the group settled back into position and continued back on their journey. nami slowly headed back to where kakashi was.
"oi, sensei, don't you think it's kind of sus that those chunin attacked a bunch of meddling genin?"
kakashi took that in consideration and nodded. "it is odd," he said loud enough for tazuna to hear. "tazuna-san, do you think you could tell a bit more information?"

the unpleasant news from tazuna was unsettling for nami, making rage and hatred fuel in her, potentially unlocking something.

yea, so...
team 7 began getting close to their destination. by now, they had already entered the land of waves. their final location would be tazuna's house as it was getting late and cold out, but so,etching stopped them.
maybe it was the fact that nami was getting more and more ticked off at the bugs surrounding her, or maybe a giant sword that nearly cut all of them in half. five of them were somewhat safe, except one. nami.
"what the fuck, dude?!" nami yelled, looking back at the direction the sword came from. the girl had received a large cut that had almost chopped her leg off. strangely enough, it didn't affect her.
a tall man came out from behind the tree. he was a missing nin from the hidden mist village.
"kakashi of the sharingan," he spoke. "we meet again."
though kakashi had another problem.
kakashi could feel nami's anger rise. he wrapped his arms around her to prevent her from doing anything too dangerous, but it was too late.
her eyes had a different look.
nami had awoken the shikatsugan.

about the shikatsugan:
though the shikatsugan looks exactly the same as the jōgan, it's much stronger.
(appears on both of nami's eyes)
the shikatsugan has the ability to see spirits/ghosts and let the user engage with them.
it allows the user to copy jutsus and master them to a certain level.
the shikatsugan has the same abilities as the byakugan, though not as strong.
those with the shikatsugan can heal without the use of any seals.
it blocks certain genjutsu, though sharingan genjutsu cannot be blocked.
