team 7 stood outside tazuna's house as they readied for some training after days of rest. kakashi stepped out in crutches with nami by his side.
"kakashi-sensei, be careful..." nami said quietly, just so kakashi could hear.
the two walked up to the rest of team seven and headed off into the forest. it felt too much like a dream. could an eye bring that much power?
"alright, i'm going to be teaching you how to walk on trees." kakashi announced. he put his foot on the tree and began to easily walk up it, leaving the genin speechless.
"how?!" naruto managed to say.
"it's simple. all you need to do is focus your chakra to the bottom of your feet and walk." the older man explained. "choose a tree and mark your highest point with a kunai."
and so, team 7 got to work. nami and sakura managed to do this flawlessly on their first try.
"anami-chan, you're a natural!" sakura announced with a blush covering her cheeks.
"you too, sakura!" nami said politely.
little did they know, a certain uchiha was watching them. "tch, i guess love is war..." sasuke said under his breath.
"what was that, sasuke?" kakashi asked.
"hm."
"that's what i thought."
though nami felt perfectly safe, she felt a pair of cold, yet familiar, eyes eyes on her. she looked around and noticed two red dots in the distance. nami immediately activated her shikatsugan, though she didn't technically mean to and the view shocked her.
the shikatsugan, working exactly like a byakugan, looked far into the distance and picked up an image that would've sent them all crazy
it was none other than the one and only

uchiha itachi.
• meanwhile •
"itachi, did you find them?" a shark like man asked his partner.
itachi looked into the distance, already picking up their chakra. "i found both of them, the 9 tailed beast boy and the last namikaze." he said under his breath.
"should we attack and take both?" kisame asked itachi once again.
"no, wait a while." itachi responded. he de activated his sharingan and closed his eyes. "kakashi of the sharingan is in the area to protect the two of them, and namikaze isn't quite ready yet. she's still weak."
"but she unlocked the legendary shikatsugan, didn't she?"
"she did, but she has no control over it. don't go to her, kisame. let her come to us like a good girl. there's no doubt she will."
itachi and kisame began making their way to a nearby dango shop where they peacefully ate.
"so, what bond do you have with namikaze?" kisame asked as he licked his scales.
"she used to always train with my best friend and I. he also had a crush on her despite the age gap. we had gotten quite close." itachi said, already letting too much out for his liking. "she has already seen us. let's hope she doesn't report us to the hokage."
"alright."
