Ben Warren hurried out of the OR towards the hallway, and scanned the board for surgeries.

He stopped at the name he was looking for. The exploratory laparotomy at OR 2 would start in 10 minutes.

Moving quickly, he took some coffee from the cafeteria and ran to OR 2.

He checked inside the scrub room, and there she was.

Miranda Bailey was scrubbing in, the soap visible in her hands. She was looking straight at the operating room proper where Ben could barely hear the countdown of the patient going under.

He opened the door and stepped inside. Miranda looked up and smiled, before continuing to scrub her hands and forearm, humming under her breath.

"Hey, I just finished my shift," he whispered and put his arms around her waist. "Emergency?"

Miranda shook her head. "No, but the woman keeps vomiting and having abdominal pains, and nothing was showing in the scans."

Ben nodded and pressed a kiss to the top of her head, which was covered in her scrub cap. "Alright then, I'll leave you to it."

Stephanie Edwards entered the room, and stopped at the sight of Ben. "Oh, um, sorry I'm late, Dr. Bailey.

Ben chuckled as Miranda's cheek turned red. He let go of her waist and turned her head around, kissing her softly. "Goodluck with the surgery."

Miranda smiled and nodded. "Remember to pick up Tuck, okay? The car keys are in my locker."

He nodded and brushed her elbow. "I love you."

She smiled wider. "I love you too."

"Benjamin Warren," A feminine and very familiar voice echoed through the resident's lounge.

All the residents inside looked up at Dr. Miranda Bailey, their general surgeon attending, then to Ben Warren, who had his eyes closed while sitting down on the bench in front of his locker.

He was missing his caffeine, and damn, it'd been a long night. The trauma was big, and he'd barely made it to his bed. Unfortunately, still being a first year resident, he's also needed this morning for his intern's rounds. He woke up quite late, and forgot to make some coffee.

"Baby, wake up." The voice soothed him to sleep more. It was the voice of an angel and the voice of his wife.

A pleasant aroma filled his nostrils when something was thrust into his face. His eyes opened in surprise at the beautiful cup of coffee in front of him.

Ben looked up and saw Miranda smiling down at him. "I know you forgot your caffeine, and at my resident years, I almost died without it, so here you go, husband."

He smiled, still sleepy, and toom the cup away from his wife's hand. He groaned at the smooth, yet bitter taste of the burning liquid. "Oh, God, you are a blessing, Miranda Bailey-Warren."

"I do my best," she chuckled, knowing exactly how great she was. "Now, go to work."

Ben nodded, and enjoyed his cup of coffee. He noticed she wasn't moving from her place. "Miranda?"

She raised an eyebrow, and put her chin out, "Mm."

He chuckled. She was quite needy with affection, but he loved that about her. She was adorable. He stood, and put his coffee on the bench for a while.

He pecked her lips quickly, yet sweetly. He knew she wasn't the type for PDA but liked the little kisses he brings her, so he keeps it short but definitely memorable. "Now you get to work."

She giggled and barely looked at the other residents who were unconvincingly trying not to be obvious at staring at them, as she walked away.

"God, these heels are killing me." Callie whined, sitting down the couch, putting her head in her hands. "You'd think after spending my whole life as a woman, I'd be used to this."

Miranda chuckled. "This is exactly the reason why I stopped wearing heels, and just wore my surgical clogs instead."

"Well, that would be nice, wouldn't it? But I'm going on a date, Miranda. A date!"

As the words left the Latina's mouth, Ben entered the room with three empty wine glasses and a bottle of red wine, all being balanced in his hands. "If you think about it, heels are only uncomfortable when you're trying to stand up in 'em." He winked at Miranda, who definitely remembered their previous conversation about heels, and barely kept herself from laughing.

Their friend frowned. "That's the point, isn't it?"

At that, both of them busted out laughing, and Callie just sat there, confused, thinking the two have gone crazy.

The evening was cold, and good thing Ben had his leather jacket on. He was scrolling aimlessly through social media, his mind numbing and re-thinking about the surgeries today, and the upcoming ones tomorrow.

The doors of the ER exit opened, and he looked up, where Miranda was walking towards him. "Hey."

"Hey." He grabbed her face and kissed her, making her shiver.

They walked towards the parking lot, and Ben noticed that she was shivering. Then, he realized that she didn't just shiver from his kiss but also from the cold.

"Here," he took his jacket off and helped Miranda put them on. "Better?"

She nodded, and smiled softly at him. "Yeah, thanks."

"No problem, babe." He pulled her close to him and kissed the side of her head. She giggled and cuddled closer to him as they walked to their car.
