drunk in you

Ben was sleeping when his phone rang.

He'd just come from two back-to-back surgeries, and he was exhausted. Luckily for him, his day off was tomorrow and he was planning on sleeping for a whole 15 hours.

Then his sleep was interrupted by his irritatingly loud ringtone.

He groaned and turned over in his bed, blindly reaching out for his bedside. His hand bumped his lamp, and his eyes opened in alarm, hoping he didn't wreck it. His eyes hooded again once he was sure he had his phone in his grasp.

"Hello?" He asked, not bothering to see the caller's name. He blinked when he heard nothing and he realized he wasn't able to pick it up in time. He groaned again, sitting up, wondering who was calling him while he got his much-needed sleep.

Gasping slightly, he fully woke up as he saw Miranda's name. She had left him a voicemail. His heart pounded in his chest, and he prayed to God for a brief second, hoping she was ready to take him back. Ben took a deep breath, playing the voicemail.

"Helloooooo? I am Miranda Bailey and you are Benjamin Warren," Miranda giggled, a small hiccup interrupting her, but she didn't seem to mind. Her voice washed over him, and he instantly knew she was drunk. She cleared her throat, and tried to sound serious. "Baby, where are you? I miss you." Ben took in a sharp breath. "I'm in the hospital, why aren't you here?" She whined. Then rustles came from her end and he heard, "Kepner, give it back!"

The voicemail ended, leaving him in a shocked state, staring at the phone in his hand as if it offended him personally.

Ben blinked fast, playing the voicemail again, hoping that he wasn't dreaming. If he wasn't, then Miranda was drunk off her ass and she was in the hospital.

Without hesitation, he pulled off the covers from his bed and got dressed. He rushed to the hospital in a t-shirt and shorts, looking very disheveled but he didn't care. He was too worried about Miranda.

He went to the ER, scanning the place. He couldn't get a glimpse of Kepner's familiar red hair, so he went to the Nurse's Station. "Hello?"

Bokhee was there, and smiled up at him. "Hello, Dr. Warren."

"Hi, Bokhee," he grinned. Bokhee was close to Miranda, and by proxy, he also had a warm affection for the woman. "Do you know where Dr. Kepner is?"

She told him that she was in one of the rooms in the back with Dr. Bailey. She had a knowing glint in her eyes, and he winked at her. They both laughed as Ben hurried to the back.

He turned a corner, and Ben saw Kepner rushing out of a room. "Dr. Kepner!" He called after her. She turned to him, a warm smile covering her face.

"Hi, sir, how can I help you?" She asked.

"Uh, I'm Ben Warren. I believe Dr. Bailey's here somewhere because she drunk dialed me." He chuckled softly, but his worry showed on his face. "Do you know where she is?"

"Oh!" The redhead blushed, looking at him."You're... Ben, huh?"

"Uh, yes."

She blinked fast at him, trying to size him up. "So you're Dr. Bailey's ex. Wow. That's wow. Hi."

He grinned. "She talked about me?"

Kepner blushed, her pale skin turning red easily. "Oh! Um, yes. Well, I mean, no. She's drunk. She claimed she was tipsy but she's definitely drunk. She was talking about you, and said that you took care of her needs, and it was hilarious." She froze and looked up at him in surprise. "Shit. I didn't mean to say that. I'm so sorry. This is probably the most awkward conversation you've ever had. Oh my God."
