Lucy's POV

I knew that during the time Voldemort returned I would have to become a double agent like my father. I realised I would probably have to distance myself from my Gryffindor friends because if they ever found out I was on the enemies side, they would hate me forever. And they can't know that I am a spy either, I don't want to put them in any danger. For now I could still be friends with everyone, but Severus said that his aching mark means that Voldemort will eventually return and it will probably be soon.

All that gave me hope for regaining their friendship back after they will inevitably find out the truth someday, is that I will be the one fighting on their side at the very end. And hopefully I can become strong enough to kill Voldemort then, or at least help in killing him and protecting the ones who are close to me.

When we arrived at Hogwarts, in the distance I could already see how our visitors from two other schools were arriving. Apparently our school would be holding an event called the Triwizard tournament, Severus told me a bit about it but students in my year can't participate anyway, so my friends and I would only be watching.

"Now the rules for this year have changed a little. Every wizard or witch who is chosen for this tournament can pick one of their fellow students to be their second. If they wish they can do so anonymously and only reveal that person on the day of the actual event. A second can only step in for exactly one event and the rest must be performed by the original champion that was picked." Dumbledore explained. I guess that is a good addition to the tournament. Let's say the task was something that person is not skilled at one bit, but one of their fellow classmates is. They could just pick that person to help them.

Between classes and after school my friends and I usually hung out in the room where the 'Goblet of Fire' was that the people who want to participate in this event put their name in. We kept seeing different older students from our school putting their names in and getting applause from everyone for doing so. Someone that really stood out to us from the other school was Viktor Krum from Durmstrang. We had seen him in the world cup so he must be extremely athletic.

"If he gets chosen as one of the champions, he will definitely not be easy to beat." Terence remarked.

"I know the ball is still far away, but I have no clue who to go with." I sighed. Additional to the Triwizard tournament, Hogwarts would also be hosting an event called the Yule Ball.

"It would really be embarrassing to go without a date, but I don't know who I could possibly ask." Harry groaned. We were all in charms class at the moment and learning the summoning charm. I was partnered up with Harry and we both managed to learn it pretty quickly so now we were just talking about what we should do for the ball.

"I really wish it wasn't this big thing cause then I'd just go without a date together with you guys as friends." I heard Jennie saying from behind us. Her and Hermione who she was partners with must have also finished early with learning the charm.

The whole day during classes my friends and I were discussing about the ball.

In potions class I was almost tempted to drink the calming draught that we had to brew today myself because I was so nervous about who to go with and if any guy would even ask me in the first place.

Ever since I started here at Hogwarts, I noticed that every potion class was almost the same. It was obvious that my father favoured the Slytherin students, especially over the Gryffindor ones. But I get it, we are his house. He is the head of Slytherin after all.

Nobody besides the people in my own house really seemed to like my dad. At first this did bother me a bit, but after I talked to Severus about it he said that he doesn't really care. Now I really understand that feeling. Besides my friends nobody really seems to be too fond of me either. I mean, of course I am very grateful that I have friends, but someone like Harry for example is really popular and known throughout almost the whole school. I'm glad that I am a bit of an outsider. That is probably why I wasn't sorted into Gryffindor, I'm just not the type of person that is popular amongst many people. Gryffindors are the heroes. I don't want to be one. I don't want to be a villain either, all I want is to protect those who are important to me. They are the only ones whose opinions actually matter to me.
