Lucy's POV
After dropping that bomb on us Dumbledore left the room and took what he said was the 'Sorting Hat' downstairs.
"I'll leave you two here to talk for a little while, I will return after the sorting ceremony is done and then Lucy can be sorted up here." With that, he left the room.
I wanted to say something but Professor Snape immediately said "Lucy, I am so sorry you probably hate me for not getting in contact with you, but the truth is your mother never told me she was pregnant in the first place."
I nodded. I noticed his voice was quite deep and sounded very composed.
"It's alright sir, or should I say professor?" I asked.
He smiled a little "You can call me Severus."
"If my mother didn't tell you about me then I have no reason to hate you, I'm just glad I get to meet you now." I smiled at him.
Snape's POV
"If you don't mind me asking, do you know where my mother is?" I sighed, trying not to look upset. "She died." I explained. I decided it was best to be direct when it came to Lily's death, but I didn't know when I should tell her that her half brother was attending Hogwarts this same year...
She took the information of her mothers death surprisingly well and just nodded while saying "I see."
"So what house are you hoping to get in?" I asked, trying to brighten the conversation a little.
"I'm really not sure, I only learned the names of the houses not too long ago but don't really know anything about them." She explained.
"Well there is Slytherin, which values ambition, self-preservation, cunning and resourcefulness. There is Ravenclaw that all about intelligence and knowledge. Hufflepuff which has patient and loyal members. And then there is Gryffindor.." Before I could finish talking, Albus was back.
"Now then, Minerva will bring the sorting hat in soon but before that we need to discuss some things."
"Lucy was in contact with 2 Wizards for a short time from a different world than ours who from what I heard have taught her a bit of magic from their world. They told me about the kind of magic they taught her the basics of and I decided that it could be of great benefit if she continues pursuing it besides the regular classes here. So Severus, I was wondering if maybe after classes Lucy could spend some time with you and you could sort of mentor her a little while she practices her magic?" I knew Albus set this up so that Lucy and I would have some time to bond and I was not complaining.
"That sounds alright." I stated.
Just then Minerva entered the room with the sorting hat. I was eager to see what house my daughter would be placed in.
I was thinking about what house I wished she was in, but then reminded myself that my duty as a father was to love her no matter what path she chooses in life.
Love..I have not thought about that emotion in years.
Lucy's POV
"Now then, I will place this hat on your head and it will decide what house you are in. Don't worry it is nothing to be afraid of, the hat always knows what is right for what wizard or witch." Mcgonagall placed the hat on top of my head and Dumbledore shot me a reassuring smile as I watched Severus observing closely with his chin between his thumb and index finger. I hope the house I end up in will please him, but then I am reminded of my foster fathers words. "Nothing you do is ever good, you are worthless." I mentally sighed.
"Ohh daughter of Snape and Lily, interesting." The hat suddenly spoke.
"Now this is a tough one, I feel as though you could succeed in any of the houses...hmmm..."
I was getting a little worried, was there something wrong with me? Maybe my Foster father was right when he used to call me freak.
"You know what, I know where to place you. Yes, I am quite certain of it now actually." I took a deep breath.
"SLYTHERIN!"
I immediately looked at Severus for approval and to my surprise he seemed very pleased.
"That is quite convenient for you Severus, Lucy you probably don't know this but your father is the head of Slytherin so your dorm room is quite close to his chambers." Dumbledore patted me on the back as Mcgonagall took the hat off of my head and put it up on a shelf.
"Now then Severus why don't you take Lucy down to the great Hall and she can go join her fellow Slytherins."
With that, Severus got up from his seat and so did I and we walked out of Dumbledores office.
I trailed behind him quietly.
"After dinner would you like to come to my office to maybe talk a little about that magic you have already learned? I am really interested in what it could be."
I nodded eagerly "I'd love to."
I was surprised he was actually showing interest, my foster parents never cared about anything that had to do with me.
Once we reached a huge golden door he halted and looked down at me. "In here is where you will be having all your meals, to the very left is the Slytherin table so you can go take a seat there. After dinner your Prefect will lead you to where the dorms are, ask him where my office is and then meet me there." He opened the doors and it revealed a massive room with floating candles illuminating everything.
There were 4 large tables where students were sitting at. At the very end I saw what I believe are professors who were also dining.
I quickly made my way to the table that Severus said was the Slytherin one and I was happy to see Jennie sitting there and waving at me.
Relieved I took a seat next to her, I was so glad that someone I already knew was in my house. I quickly scanned the table to see if I saw Ron, Harry or Hermione, but they were not here. At least I already had one friend in my house which is all I needed for now.
"Where were you?" She asked. I filled her in on everything as we ate. The food was delicious.
A/N What house are you guys in :)?
