Lucy's POV
Dumbledore was the first to reach Harry. The teachers who were sitting next to me and Severus also began filling down. I could hear Fleur screaming and many people gasping once they had relied that Cedric was in fact dead.
I followed my dad down the stairs towards Harry, but he stopped me once I reached the grass.
"Stay here." He commanded. "I don't want you to see this."
From over here I heard Harry crying out "He's back! Voldemort is back!" While more and more teachers came to comfort him. What was truly heartbreaking was Cedric's dad who rushed down to his dead body and cried out loud "My son!".
I felt my heart aching. I had only talked briefly with Cedric, but hearing and seeing so many people crying around me really broke my heart. I felt a few tears slip down as I saw Amos hold his sons lifeless body in his arms and sob.
I took a few steps back up the stairs so I got a better view of what was happening. I could see Moody pick up Harry and drag him away somewhere. At first I assumed it was to go and comfort Harry after everything he must have gone through in that maze, but something seemed off.
While Amos continued to sob and all the teachers were either surrounding Cedric's body or comforting students, I quickly snuck past everyone and in the direction where Moody took Harry. I just had a really bad feeling about this for some reason.
On my way to the castle and towards Moody's office, I spotted Severus, Mcgonagall and Dumbledore suddenly behind me.
"What are you doing her?" He asked me sternly.
"We have no time for this now Severus, we must hurry." Dumbledore urged and they kept going in the direction I was also planning on going to. They probably also had a hunch that something was wrong.
I of course followed along. Dumbledore blasted the door open and disarmed Moody, I saw Harry standing in the corner of the room terrified. I instantly ran over to him and gave him a hug, watching the scene in front of us unfold.
Dumbledore strangled Moody and ordered Severus to "use the potion." He pried Moody's mouth open and poured down the potion that I recognised to be Veritaserum.
Moody struggled to get loose from Dumbledores grip as he asked "Are you Alastor Moody?"
'Moody' shook his head no. "Is Moody in this room?" Dumbledore asked angrily. The man who wasn't Moody nodded, glancing over at a chest in the room.
We were ordered to step away from the chest as Severus sent a spell to make it open. Many layers unfolded and opened, eventually revealing a man that was sitting at the bottom of a long pit. That must have been the real Alastor Moody. But then, who is this guy pretending to be him?
I looked back at the impostor and saw that his face was beginning to change. He must have been the one stealing the ingredients from Severus storage to make polyjuice potion in order to turn himself into Moody.
"Barty Crouch Junior." Dumbledore said to the now fully transformed man. Severus stuck his wand into the mans cheek forcefully.
It was Crouch's son. He rolled his sleeve up to reveal his dark mark. "He's back." He remarked with an evil grin.
"I'm sorry sir, I tried to stop him." Harry cried. I couldn't believe that Harry must have actually came face to face with the dark lord. That would leave any student terrified, plus having to bring back a dead body too.
"Send an owl to Azkaban." Dumbledore ordered and Mcgonagall left the room. Dumbledore also left the room soon after with Harry. I stayed behind and watched as my father stared at Barty Crouch Junior.
He kept talking about how Voldemort was back and would be pleased to see Severus, but my dad just stayed quiet the whole time and I did the same until someone came to pick up the death eater.
The next day in the great hall we had a ceremony for Cedric. Dumbledore told everyone what a great friend Cedric was and also how he was murdered by Voldemort. Harry had filled my friends and I in on exactly what happened after breakfast this morning.
"The ministry of magic wishes for me to keep this a secret, but to do so I think would be an insult to his memory." Dumbledore said, referring to the way Cedric died.
"Make sure to remember that Cedric Diggory did not die in vain."
—-Time Skip-—
On the last day of the school year all the exchange students headed back and I said my goodbyes to everyone at breakfast before heading to Severus room.
Before apparating back home, Severus and I took a small walk around the castle grounds right as everyone had left.
"Even though everything is going to change now, this place will always remain as beautiful as ever." I said, marvelling at the castle.
A/ This is the end of book 1, I really enjoyed writing this :) Book 2 is in the making right now
