Chapter 20

Lucy's POV

Jennie and I were in our dorm room, bored out of our minds and snacking on some chocolate while trying to figure out something to do.

"You know maybe that Terence boy was right, I should join a club." I sighed, plopping myself onto my bed and staring at the ceiling.

"Wanna try out for the duelling club with me?" I asked Jennie.

She took a seat next to me. "I guess it could be fun, how about we watch how the duelling that is planned for tomorrows D.A.D.A lesson goes and decide then if we want to join?" She suggested.

"Sounds like a plan, but what should we do now? I'm not tired at all and I finished all my homework already."

I looked up and I could tell Jennie was thinking for a second. Suddenly she sprung up and ran to her dresser.

"I totally forgot about this!" She exclaimed and I just shot her a confused look.

She rummaged through her dresser for a while and then pulled out something I recognised as a cassette player.

"I snuck this into the castle, I love listening to music with this at home so I thought maybe it could be fun to have it around during the school year too." Jennie smirked and went back to rummaging around in her dresser.

This time she pulled out a cassette tape and inserted it into the player. I also recognised the song, I must have heard it on the radio or TV while I was at Jennie's house. Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out for a Hero, once it started playing we immediately sprung up and began dancing to it and singing along to the lyrics.

I really needed this, it made me forget everything that was going on for a second. I could forget all the unknown things I am apparently not allowed to know about Severus and also the fact I am not allowed to tell my own half brother that we are related. I forgot how nervous I was about the upcoming test and just danced with my best friend.

Jennie took my hand in hers and spun me around, we both fell into a fit of giggles but kept singing.

Suddenly the door opened, some other Slytherin students were giving us confused stares. Jennie and I exchanged glances for a second, and just continued on with what we were doing. In that moment all that existed was us and the music. One of the students rolled their eyes and closed the door again, in that moment the song ended and we both fell onto her bed, bursting out laughing.

"Did you see the way they looked at us?" She giggled. "Yep, they must have been so confused." I laughed.

We continued listening to some more songs, this time more quietly. At around 11pm we both felt quite tired so Jennie turned the player off and we went to sleep.

It was D.A.D.A class and all students were gathered around a large stage where the duels were supposed to take place. I was delighted to see Severus there and silently snickered, knowing he would kick Lockhart's ass in battle. He was my new D.A.D.A teacher and absolutely useless so far.

"Expelliarmus." Was all it took for Severus to cast and Lockhart flew onto his back. He claimed that he apparently let Severus do this to demonstrate the effects of that spell and that he could easily beat him if he wanted to. We all knew that was a lie, except for some girls who kept swooning over this guy. Jennie and I could not understand at all what is so great about him.

"Perhaps it would be best to teach students how to block unfriendly spells." Severus spoke and I could tell he was suppressing a smirk after he sent Lockhart flying like that.

"An excellent idea Professor!" Lockhart exclaimed. "Any volunteers?"

He decided to pick Harry. At first he wanted Ron to go against him, but Severus reminded him that his wand was still broken.

"Might I suggest someone from my own house?" Severus averted his eyes my way for a second. My eyes widened and I was about to shake my head no but he already called my name. I sighed, knowing that I should probably not back down from this if not people would end up making fun of me. I really did not want to battle Harry, though.

I reluctantly got up on the stage and started walking towards Harry.

"Let's just get this over with.." I sighed, but I could tell Harry heard me and he quietly nodded.

We took a few steps back and bowed.

"Remember, only disarming charms." Lockhart warned. He began the count-down from 3 and I guess I must have been a millisecond faster than Harry because I called out "Expelliarmus" and his wand flew out of his hand. I sighed a little because I was not able to cast it as strong as my father was able to and I really did not want to disappoint him.

"Very good, now I want Harry to cast it at Lucy and she will try to protect herself." Lockhart called. Harry picked his want back up and sent the spell my way.

I made sure to say "Protego" loud and clear and do the correct wand movement. I was able to completely block the spell and I was pleased with myself. I hope I was also able to make Severus proud with this too.

I was about to turn around and look at him, when suddenly I heard Draco call out "man this is boring, serpensortia!" He yelled and all of a sudden a live snake came out of his wand and fell onto the stage.

It slithered around and looked like it was about to attack one of the students when Harry began talking to it in a language I had never heard before. Everyone looked confused or scared, I looked back at my father and he seemed frozen too, not being able to take his eyes off of Harry. I decided it was best to get rid of the snake, I knew the Snake-vanishing spell from a book I read and it was quite easy.

Once the snake was gone everyone was still staring at Harry confused and Severus told everyone to head back to their dormitories.

"Harry never told us he was a Parselmouth, or maybe he didn't know himself until today?" Jennie said puzzled as we entered our room.

"Is that the name of the language he was speaking? I never heard about it." I said.

"It is called Parseltongue, it is basically snake language. This really can't be good, not many people in this world speak it and Harry himself seems unaware of this gift." Jennie and I both sighed.
