Lucy's POV

I was still a bit nervous, but I was glad he changed the subject because I don't think I could handle talking more about my foster homes right now.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for a second, then I got up and asked Severus if it was alright if I sit on the floor to demonstrate the magic.

"Of course, do what you need to do."

I sat down criss cross on the floor and closed my eyes again, concentrating on what Sting had taught me. I sat like this when we were meditating and during those times I was most succesful when trying to create light magic.

I held out my left hand and imagined an orb of light appearing in it. When I felt my hand beginning to tingle, I opened my eyes and smiled a little when I saw the light that was forming in it. It was a lot brighter than it was the first time I was able to produce it and I was proud of my achievement.

"This is what I was told is called Light Magic. So far what I can do with it is produce it in my hand like this, but if I send it out as an attack it can slash through things." I explained as Severus nodded while not taking his eyes off of the light in my hand.

"What can it slash through?" He asked me.

"Well Sting said for him it can go through almost any material, but he is a really experienced light wizard and I just started learning it so the last time I tested it I was only able to pierce thin fabrics."

"That is still very impressive, I have never seen anything like this." He remarked and I was glad I could impress my father.

"There is also another form of magic I can do, if you would like to see?" I asked him and he nodded.

"Of course, I would love to see it."

I stood up for this one. When it came to shadow magic, Rogue taught me that standing made it easier because you needed a sort of 'flow' to get it going.

I did exactly what he taught me and took a deep breath while moving my right foot backwards and held my two hands close to each other and concentrated on the space between them. I then also moved my hips backwards slightly so only my left foot was in front of my body. I then sharply exhaled while clasping my hands together and going forward into the initial position I was in.

I saw a black flame forming around my hands and explained to Severus that this was 'Shadow Magic'.

I made the flame disappear and sat down on the chair again.

"I am definitely no expert at this, I just started learning but Sting and Rogue told me to keep practicing and said with enough practice I could one day master these two forms of magic."

Severus looked very intrigued and it took him a while to find the right words to say.

"This is truly incredible magic you just showed me and I would be glad to help you improve it" He started "But I am not sure how I could help."

He thought for a second. "I think I might know, there is something called Occlumency and Legilimency which I am quite skilled at. To be able to do those two things one must be very good at controlling their mind and from what I heard you also need to be highly concentrated when using Shadow and Light magic?" He questioned.

I nodded eagerly. "Yes, I had to do hours of meditation before I could even do a tiny bit of this magic for the first time."

"Then I could definitely help you in that department. I was also thinking, if you like, we could go outside sometime into the open and you could practice your magic there and we could test how it goes against magic from wands."

I was really on board with this idea and I was equally happy that I would be getting to spend more time with my father through our training.

"Then it is settled, how about tomorrow after class you come to my office and we start with some techniques for controlling your mind. Then if you want to on the weekend we can go out somewhere and practice some ranged attacks and how your magic goes against the one of this world." Severus got up out of his seat and I could sense a flicker of excitement in his usually composed looking self.

"I think you should be getting to bed now, it is getting quite late. I'm looking forward to tomorrow." With that, he opened the door and I walked out.

"Me too" I said, turning around "Goodnight." I smiled and he smiled back at me.
