Chapter 20

"I can't believe you're not gonna say anything before I leave". Theo looked at me with sadness in his eyes. I just looked away, we were at the military base where our uncle is working as the general. "Ano pa bang sasabihin ko sayo? Theo tapos na tayo please, ayoko na nakita mo naman di ba kung anong nangyari." He looks so frustrated, "Viv, everything was okay untul you opened your goddamn mouth to them." Mas lalo lang akong nainis sa kanya, I can't believe he's saying this to me right now. "So, kasalanan ko pa pala. Fine, mabuti na nga nangyari yan sayo. I don't want to see you again." I walked away from him and went inside the car. 

"Theo, matagal ka naming hindi makikita ganyan pa iaasal mo sa kapatid mo." Mom looks worried, may lumapit na security guard namin para pabalikin ako. Mom said kailangan daw i-greet namin ang tito ko. Finally after a few minutes of waiting dumating na din siya, my dad and uncle saluted each other sabay niyakap nila ang isa't-isa. Close pala sila, hindi kasi halata since Dad always talks about politics. 

"Vic, it's nice to see again my brother. I heard you're eldest is getting married congratulations". My parents faked a smile, "Thank you so much Vince, I hope you can make it to the wedding pati na rin si Mareng Gina matagal na kaming hindi nakakapag-kita sa sobrang busy alam mo naman." My uncle laughed "Oo, iba talaga pag may asawang congressman, I can't wait for my brother to have a higher position malaking tulong ito pag na-endorse ako para maging chief." My dad smirked, "Soon, brother we will have it all someday. By the way, let me tell you why we're here." 

"Alright brother, let's go to my office" We went to his office. Pinaalis niya lahat ng nandun at kaming kamag-anak lang niya ang natira. He locked the doors and windows, I don't what is so private about this meeting. Parang ang big deal talaga ng image namin sa mga tao, isang pagkakamali lang ay mawawala na lahat ng magagandang nagawa namin. "Vinny, my second son will be entering the military dahil may naging kasalanan siya." Uncle Vinny just raised his eyebrows, "Sinabi ko na kasi sayo matagal na, Vic you should have let me disciplined your sons. Mabuti yung isa tumino na eh ito parang iba ang tubo ng mga sungay sa ulo." Mom is holding it in, she knew better than to cry. Theo entering the military is hell, alam niyang papahirapan siya ni Dad dito and our uncle is a general kawawa talaga siya. 

"I'm sorry brother if only I've had known better matagal ko na silang iniwan". Grabe talaga walang kwentang ama, hearing this right now maaring hindi ko sila tunay na kapatid but Zach and Theo are the most real in the family. Dad wanting to leave his sons sa unang babae niya and having that perfectionist family samin ni mom is too damn selfish. "Dad, nag mumukha talagang makasarili sa sinasabi mo ngayon." I interrupted the conversation. Mom signaling me to be quiet. 

Dad and uncle Vinny looked at me with disgrace. "Viv, just let them be. I deserve this please. Hayaan mo na tapos na ang pangyayari. We all need to accept the fact that I'll never be as perfect of a child as you are. What more do you expect sa pagiging anak ng mukhang pera." Dad was starting to get angry and was about to punch Theo pero pinigilan ito ni uncle Vinny. "Punching him is not the answer brother, let me handle this please in a very calm manner." Tumigil na din naman agad si Dad, naramdaman niya na he will cause another scene if he punches Theo. 

"Theo this is what will happen to you in this Military base. First cutting off all your hair, no accessories allowed. No contact from family members or friends unless of an emergency or holidays. You will learn basic combat training, waking up early and doing activities with the platoon you are assigned. If ever you are caught breaking the rules there will be a disciplinary action to it. Are we clear?"
