Setting: September 13, 1849; the twins birthday...

Fernando sold off all of Hyla's time period clothes & shoes, even her favorite ones; he sells off everything he can that they have from this current time-even weapons, giving the excuse that they were all his for the protection of his family. He takes one last look around the now empty house they had built into a home, started a family, & were just being their lives when it all just as quickly fell apart. He packs away the weapons from the future on his person before situating the twins in a makeshift chest carrier & writes one last letter...

     You met a version of your niece 'Hyla' that came from the future, along with her 'partner,' things that I can't divulge to you happened in our future & we fled from it. We fled into the past, to a time at random & found ourselves in the midst of the Mexican-American war during its beginning in December of 1846. We sought refuge in the chapel of the Alamo for as long as we possibly could before being found by soldiers in 1847 & fleeing to Santa Fe, New Mexico. We built a new life for ourselves in Santa Fe & remained there from the end of June 1847 to September 13, 1849. We would've left the moment we arrived, but we had to wait for Hyla to fix the damage that was done to the time gauntlet & unfortunately, she was murdered the same night she had finally fixed it.
     We had planned to leave that very night after attending a dinner party we were invited to, but Hyla was stabbed in the back by a bayonet at said party. In this time, that would roughly be three to four months prior on the 18th of June-her last wishes were for me to leave them with you. His name is: Hector Elvis & her's is: Elenita Imelda; she asked me to leave them with you for their own safety, they aren't safe with me. Elenita & Hector were born on the date this letter is dated, but in 1847; they have no birth records-it's safer for them that way. The only evidence of their birth & our marriage, is them & the rings I gave her-which I will also leave with you. Their favorite lullaby is 'Remember me,' from 'Coco,' they're the only part of Hyla that's left & I ask that for their own safety, you don't tell them who they are or where they really come from.

     Once the note is finished, he folds it up & signs it with 'for Dr. Cooper,' before slipping just beneath the twins as they sleep; he sets the time gauntlet to Pasadena California in the year two thousand twenty six. The date being September thirteenth & the more specific place being the apartment building of Hyla's uncle, he takes a good long look at the building, then back down at the twins as they start to fuss. They start crying, most likely he to not being use to so much noise, they had traveled through time & space from a time when everything was new & far more quiet to the loud way things are a hundred seventy eight years later. He tries shushing them, but it didn't help, having sold his guitar, he starts humming the tune...

     The twins calm down instantly, but just stare up at Fernando as he continues humming the song & heads forwards towards & inside of the building. He walks up the stairs to fourth floor carefully before he lowers his humming & stoping at 4A, he carefully removes the makeshift carrier from his being & just as carefully wraps them both up in the blankets that made up their carrier-blankets Hyla made them. Hector fast asleep, Elenita smiles wide eyed & brightly at the sad looking man as he hugs them close before placing them down in front of the door...
