Setting: 2048; an undisclosed location...

" I can't believe this is real," Agent H says as she tinkers away, "I can't believe I'm doing this," she continues, "I was President fer god sake-"

"Will you shut up," Agent F snaps at her, "you're not president anymore," he tells her, "you don't exist anymore...will you just hurry up and finish it so we can get this assignment over with?"

"Seriously," she snaps back as she puts her tool down, "what yer deal?"

"Excuse me?" He replies with a glare

"Y'all've been nothin but a down right ass since wes' was forced ta be partners," she growls at him

"Not like you've been a saint yourself Cara Mia," he says sarcastically

"At least I've been tryin ta get along," she snaps, "which is more than I can say fer you!"

"Just get your stupid machine working already," he huffs and starts walking away

"I'd like ta see y'all try ta build this by yerself with NO help from yer SUPPOSED partner!" She yells as he walks away, "and don't think fer a second that I don't know what y'all called me! I am-was-the smartest woman in the whole world ya know!"

She lets out a groan of frustration and glares angrily as she gets back to work on her machine; she works in silence now that her jerk of a partner is gone, fourteen years ago, this is definitely not where she saw herself ending up. After her presidency, she saw herself at home, releasing her younger sister from the weight of their father's store so that she could go out and peruse her own dreams-not forced into being a government international spy against her will. She was President for to terms-eight years in office-and she made great progress in the US before she had to unfortunately step down due to government laws put in place because of Franklin D. Roosevelt run. As soon as her second term was over, with no warning & no say, her death was made public and her existence was basically erased. She hated her life now, missed her family and most importantly, is not looking forward to her current assignment in particular.

She has been a spy for nearing seven years now and although she's never liked any of her assignments or even her new line of work, she especially didn't like the new suddenly partner forced upon her six years earlier and this assignment makes her stomach churn and both shame and guilt consume her being. It made her beyond sad to think what her family would say if they knew; knowing her uncle knows...

"Aren't you done yet?" The annoying voice of her partner comes

"does it look like I'm done yet Mr. Smoothe?" She snaps sarcastically

"..." he just glares at her

"Take a picture," she says not looking up from her work, "it'll last longer."

"How much longer?" He asks still glaring

"It'll be finished when it's finished," she replies irritated

"Six years and I still can't believe I'm stuck with you," he mutters, "I work better by myself-"

"So y'all've said," she groans, "repeatedly-fer the past six years."

"Wouldn't you rather be working alone?" He asks her

"I've been alone wolf all my life," she tells him, "I don't mind workin with someone else..."

"..." he waits for her to continue

"Just: not this line of work," she adds, "and not with you."

"I'm your best option at keeping your ass safe," he tells her

"Well, if y'all wanna go down that path," she replies as she once again stops working, "then physically speakin-yes ya are," she says giving him a dead pan look, "but brain wise-I'm YER best chance at keepin yer ass safe."

"..." he glares harder at her, even more irritated than before, "just get your heap of junk workin."

What do y'all think I'm tryin ta do?" She asks sarcastically, "despite yer constant interruptions f my concentration."

"I wouldn't stick around with you longer than I had to even if we were stranded on a deserted Island," he tells her, "and we're the last two people on earth."

"Oh REAL mature," she mocks sarcastically, "fyi-the feelin's mutual."

Agent F leaves in a huff, his partner infuriated him; he hated working with a partner and agent H was his fourth, his first partner was the one who trained him. That agent died saving his life and he never forgave himself for it; his second partner died because they made the mistake of getting too close to each other and in the end he failed to protect them hen it counted most. After the loss of his second partner, he became angry and hardened his heart to stone to protect himself and never make the same mistake again. His third partner asked to be put with someone new with the reasoning that he (agent F) was too difficult to work with-and he did this purposely to make it so he could be solo. But he found his now partner of six years to be different than his last partner, she is stubborn and difficult-just as much as he is.

She didn't throw in the towel after a year like his third partner did, she didn't request a transfer or change of partners; she actually put her foot down and pushed back. This annoyed him-infuriated him even, because though he'd never admit it both out loud or to himself, he felt something for her. Her accent enticed him in and those blue eyes of hers were enough to snare anyone in their trap. He doesn't actually hate her, so much as he hates what she's doing to him and what she was doing to him was dangerous for them both to say the least. All he knew, is that he has to get rid of her as his partner-and fast...

"Agent F," comes the voice of his superior

"Sir," he replies quickly

"How's it coming along?" He asks him

"Still not finished yet sir," agent F replies

"Then why are you out here and not with your partner?" He asks sternly

"Thought I'd get us some coffee," Agent F states plainly

"Very well agent," he states

"Sir," Agent F replies before continuing to leave again

"Oh and agent F," his superior calls, causing him to stop again, "I am very much aware of what you've been up to..."

"Sir?" He asks

"Agent H," he states simply, "you're very good at working by yourselves," he continues, "but," he sighs out, "I think you both need to learn something from each other."

"Sir?" He asks again

"Agent," he says as he leaves

"Sir," he replies and continues on his way

Back in the lab agent F is still hard at work, tinkering away at her machine, she ignores the sound of the door opening and the person entering the room. She ignores their presence for a long time until their footsteps stop right next to her work bench and they're clearing their throat...

"Sir?" She asks annoyed that she's being interrupted

"Agent H," he starts

"Y'all might be my boss now," she tells him, "but I was yer boss at one point not too long ago," she continues, "y'all can take my life from me, but between you and me, ya can't take my name."

"Very well," he tells her now annoyed himself, "Hyla."
