Setting: middle of 2041-2042 school year; Sparks auto shop, the office-shop closed...

"It's really up ta y'all as ta what ta do with Charlie n mom," Tilly tells her siblings through the phone since she's still fighting in the war, "I gotta get back, bye."

"Well?" Carl asks Shey after their sister hung up abruptly

"Well what Carl?" Shey sighs out, "what do ya want me ta say? He's just a kid Carl, I work with Carson tools that could possibly hurt 'im...Mom's slowly comin ta need twenty four-seven watch, I can barely work with my hands due ta the fire burns," she tells him, "I ain't able ta watch each either of em round the clock like they need."

"Well I ain't able ta watch em," he mutters, "my plate's full as it is  warin thin-"

"Huh," they sigh at the same time

"We could always put mom in a home with us as er legal guardians..." Carl begrudgingly suggests

"Even if we did that," she mutters, "that still leaves the kid."

"I thought maybe y'all could-"

"I already told ya bout the cars n tools n my hands-"

"He's old enough that e should be able ta help ya," he tells her, "he's respectful now...we can deal with the broodin teenage years when the time comes."

"Where're the papers?" She sighs out, "I'll sign fer guardianship over Charlie," she caves, "but only if y'all deal with mom."

"I dunno," he tells her, "I'll likely just putter in a place better equipped ta take care of er moments of memory lapses."

"I hate ta admit it," she sigh again, "but doin so may be fer the best."

"Then I guess we've gotta deal," he tells her, "y'all'll take legal guardianship of Charlie n I'll do so fer mom ta put in a place where she'll get the proper care she deserves."

"So y'all got the papers tagether then?"

"Right ere," he says as he pulls them out of his back pocket, "all wes gotta do is sign on the dotted lines."

"I gotta pen," she tells him

"Then-I guess...we sign."

They sit in silence as they sign the paperwork-neither wanting to do it, but go through with it due to knowing that it's in the best interest of both parties involved. Once signed away, Carl leaves Charlie with Shey & leaves to go search for their mother: Missy, while he calls the assisted living home their mother would be placed in. Shey & Charlie watch Carl drive off with the paperwork before she lets out a sigh before tells her younger brother to wash up in the upstairs apartment & wait while she finishes up her shop work for the day. She grumbles & mutters to herself as she goes back to working on a car left in her care, but her concentration is suddenly broken by the sound of stereo or something coming from just outside the closed garage door. A scowl forms on her face & she groans in frustrated anger as she stops what she's doing to lift the garage door open, only to find her ex boyfriend serenading her...
