I've never been in a fight before.
Not with Mom or with Xavier. Or with my first boyfriend in freshman year, Adrien. Never been in a fight until now.
So what do I do?
I'm laying in bed and just isolating myself from possibly everyone in my life right now.
Dad knocked on the door, but only slide the food in before closing the door again. Now that I think about it, he's never been in a confrontation with me either. He's been gone most of my life, except now.
I went on my phone and finished the eight show I've binge watched. Thank God it's Sunday.
Checking my phone again, I closed my eyes from some rest and left the food at the door.
The next day, I took a shower early in the morning before anyone could be awake and walked myself to school. Sitting at the steps of the school was Jacob reading a book. I walked past time, but almost jumped when he gently grabbed onto my shoulder.
"Athena wait-"
"What Jacob?" I muttered turning around just wishing to be invisible. I'm pretty close dressed in grey sweats and a black long sleeve shirt to combat the cool breeze and low top black converse.
"I understand why you don't agree, okay? You think I want to risk Mark? Or agree with violence, I don't." Jacob let out as if he's been holding that in all day. "I just thought you should know. But majority opinion is to fight, so here we are."
"What am I supposed to do Jacob?" I asked turning around to fully face him and looked into his eyes. "I-I don't know what to do."
He sighed and let go of my shoulder. "I can't tell you what to do, Athena."
"But I'm so confused! I don't know who I can talk to because I'm practically arguing with everyone! And I don't know what to do about Ryder or just in general!" I said shrugging my shoulders. "Never mind."
"I'm sorry. But I really can't be the one to tell you what to do, no one can. You have to figure this one out on yourself, it's a conflict you have to get over alone." Jacob said like a wiseass.
"Wiseass." I muttered gesturing to the library. "It's cold outside."
"For a weak human like you." He teased and followed along with me to the library. I'm beginning to feel warm again.
Through the classes, I ignored the absence of everyone in the group except Kevin and Jacob. Kevin met with us in the library and the three of us sat at one of the tables. It was hard to ignore the looks of our peers and their whispers.
"Wanna test somethin'?" Kevin asked with a playful smirk. I shrugged my shoulders with a playful smile.
"Sure." Jacob said voicing our opinions.
"YOU'RE PREGNANT!" Kevin yelled standing up from his chair. The librarian shushed him, but Kevin didn't let that stop him. "NO! HOW? WAIT-I DONT WANT TO TO KNOW!"
I looked over at Jacob who was practically falling out of his seat. Looking between the two for a slight instant I decided to stand up with a fake cry.
"IM SORRY, OKAY? IM SORRY! ITS NOT JACOB'S!" I yelled back causing a few of the students to gasp in shock. Looking down at Jacob, I shook my head and grabbed my water bottle, slyly putting tears on my face.
Before Jacob stood up, he did the same.
"IF ITS NOT MINE, THEN WHOS? EVERYONE KNOWS THAT WEVE BEEN HAVING A SECRET," he paused for emphasis, "AFFAIR!"
