"Are you going to be okay today?" Dad asked as I got ready to leave to catch the bus.
"Yes." I said confidently knowing that my friends will be there when I get to school. It's a nice feeling, one I haven't felt in a while. He kissed my forehead and handed me some money for lunch.
"Have a good day." He said and watched as I left the house. The bus stop was cold and I watched as an old lady was the first to step onto the bus, everyone fell along shortly.
Anri ran towards me and smiled. "Good morning."
I smiled back at him and stepped onto the bus. We sat down next to each other and I watched as Anri pulled out a book.
"That's my favorite book." I said with a smile and watched as he looked up at me surprised.
"Really?" He laughed and flipped open the first page. "No one else in the group likes the read, but me."
"Until now." I said scooting closer and relaxed as we read together. The bus stopped at another stop and Kian made so much noise as he watched onto the bus.
"Losers." He said taking our book and sitting down next to Anri, making me squish against the window. "Damn, I guess I'm a fatass."
He stood up and held onto the pole, practically guarding us from the outside world as if we were little kids. Anri and I went back to reading, looking up at Kian, his body was facing us but his eyes were out the window looking away.
Looking back down, I nodded my head and watched as Anri flipped the page. I feel so warm.
It wasn't just the sweater I was wearing.
The bus stopped abruptly causing look down at us first. I held onto Anri's shoulder and the other hand on the seat in front of me.
"Here, sit Kian." I said scooting over and he shook his head, sitting down on the seat in front of us.
"Thanks, but it's okay." He said and watched us as we read like a guardian. The bus stopped a block from the school and we hopped out.
Waiting outside the school was Roslyn leaning against the pole that had the flags on it. She looked up at us as we turned the corner, meeting us halfway.
"Morning." She said with a sigh and put away her phone in the waistline of her skirt.
"Where Eugene?" Kian asked looking around.
"Don't know and don't care. Are we going to get breakfast this morning?" She asked looking over at me with a small smile. I nodded my head and assumed that they all heard of what happened.
"I'm down." I shrugged and we all walked into the school building. Gathering the breakfast was done with conversation, I'm surprised how chattery Kian and Roslyn are. I didn't think they'd get along because Anri doesn't get along with Roslyn.
"We should totally see that movie!" Roslyn said with a laugh and sat down across from me at the table. Eugene found us and was about to give Roslyn a kiss on the head when she swerved. "The fuck?"
"What?" He asked confused and went to sit down next to her, but she slid to block him.
"I didn't think I'd have to tell you this, but I'm mad at you." She said crossing her arms. "Did you not get my texts?"
"I did, you asked if I was joking." He said mimicking her with a fake giggle. "Or did you mean it in the serious way?"
"The serious way! The fuck? And worse you left me on read!" She said in a calm tone as if she was done with him.
