Awkwardly at the dinner table, Anri and I shared a look before looking at dad. "So dad, do you think we can have a few friends over? They're a bit worried about us since we haven't been to school."
"Friends of both of you?" He asked looking at me surprised. It's almost as if he's thinking 'wow, she actually has friends' or something.
"Yes I have friends dad." I laughed and pointed to Anri. "It's a group, he's in it too. So do you think we can invite them over tonight?"
Dad looked at the time and back at Anri who was sitting quietly waiting for a response. "Okay."
"Thank you so much!" I exclaimed running over to the landline and dialed Ryder's number.
"Hello?" He asked in a deep voice, I felt a familiar fluttering feeling in my stomach.
"Ryder, it's Athena. You can come over! Like all of you guys." I rushed and laughed when Anri grabbed my side, forcing the phone away from me. But he kept it between us so we could hear.
"You heard that bitchass, get over here. You know where it is right?" Anri asked, cursing for the first time I think. At least around me. I can hear Ryder laugh a bit and then an even louder laugh in the background.
"Khalil! Get ready we're leaving to see Athena and Anri! Get the gang together!" Ryder yelled and turned his attention back to us with a sigh. "We'll be there in ten or fifteen."
"Okay and bring snacks please." I said and hung up the phone before he could say anything else. Anri and I finished cleaning up the kitchen for dad to go to work. It's a Friday night and he said he's going to work, but I have a feeling he's going to go see someone.
A significant other.
"Are they sleeping over?" Dad asked grabbing his bag. I looked at the bag and back at him.
"The real question should be if you're sleeping over somewhere." I said pushing his shoulder playfully. Dad rolled his eyes with a small smile.
"You're my daughter, I shouldn't be talking to you about this." He said shrugging his shoulders. "I didn't mean to lie. It's still new to me."
I smiled and hugged him. "You can tell me the truth. I've seen things." I shuddered and remembered how disgusting it was living with mom.
"Don't even want to know." Dad said and looked around concerned. Anri walked into the living room with a glass of water. "There's my other kid."
Anri's face instantly turned red and he looked down at his cup. Dad walked over to him and hugged him. "Watch over my daughter kiddo. I expect no parties, got it?"
Anri quickly nodded his head and returned the hug, holding on tightly to my dad. I let them have their moment for a while and when they were about to pull away, I jumped on top of them and hugged them.
"We got it dad!" I yelled laughing when we fell to the ground. Anri groaned, still in pain from the weekend before. Dad sighed and opened the door when they came knocking.
In came everyone dressed in pajamas. Ryder was the first to come up to dad and shook his hand firmly.
"It's nice to meet you sir, I'm Ryder." He said causing dad to turn around and wink at me before turning back towards Ryder.
"I'm Delyn." He said and introduced himself to everyone before leaving. "No partying! I'll be back!"
Turning to the group, they didn't waste time taking Anri and I into their arms in a group hug. It was nice to be included in such a warm environment. I told Anri he could tell the gang what happened if it was brought up, it wasn't a secret and it'd be easier if everyone just knew.
