~ again, this is one of those that I don't really like and don't get me started on the ending, I really didn't know how it end it. But it isn't sad so that's something, right? anyway, I love you guys xx /M

also, thoughts on the new cover (covers if you're reading any of my other books because I've changed most of them)? Like it? Hate it?~

Luke's hands are shaking when he digs through his backpack, looking for the ticket he knows is in there somewhere. Luckily, the woman standing in front of him doesn't seem to mind that much and when he finally hands her the piece of paper she smiles, wishing him a nice day before leaving. Luke leans back in the seat, turning his attention to the trees outside the window. It's snowing, just like it's been snowing for the past week, and he can't wait to get away from it for a while, even if that means he'll have to live with cold rain instead.

It's not that he doesn't like snow as snow, it's just that it complicates everything, making trains and buses late, hiding the ice so you fall and hurt yourself and making even the easiest of tasks way harder than they should be.

After a while of staring out the window, smiling to himself, Luke becomes aware of the baby crying somewhere behind him and he pulls his headphones out, plugging them into his phone and unlocking it. After hesitating for a few moments, he decides on listening to Nickelback, since it's one of those bands he's still discovering, having been talked into listening to them only a few weeks ago.

After pressing play, he closes his eyes, having to bite his lip to suppress a smile when he thinks about what's happening, where he's going.

Luke wasn't wrong when he thought he'd get away from the constant snowing. There is snow here too, but nowhere near as much as it is back home. But honestly, he doesn’t really care anymore. His heart is pounding as he makes his way across the parking lot, walking towards a bus stop. He’s not even aware of the rain that’s slowly drenching him, water seeping in under his clothes, making him shiver. He’s nervous, more nervous than he was when he went to that job interview, more nervous than he was on his first day of school. Actually, Luke’s pretty sure he’s never been as nervous as he is when he gets on the right bus, spending a good five minutes trying to figure out what the driver is saying and then paying for the ticket.

The whole ride is a blur, filled with nervously wiping his hands on his jeans, biting his lip and listening to the extremely loud music that’s being played from the speakers in the vehicle. Even though he’s here, in a country he’s never been in before, never even dreamed of visiting until a year ago, he hasn’t quite grasped it yet. He can’t believe it’s happening, actually happening. He’s actually going to meet the boy who’s been his best friend for a year, even though he hated him for a solid half hour before he actually realised that the guy was pretty cool. Luke’s never told Michael he’s his best friend, because how desperate wouldn’t that be? Oh by the way Mikey, I know we live miles and miles apart and haven’t even heard each other’s voices, but you’re kind of my best friend. Yeah no, if he did that he’d lose the boy for sure. What kind of person with a normal social life would consider someone he met on twitter, during an argument, his best friend? Then again, Luke doesn’t have a normal social life, but it’d still be weird.

And then he’s there. After what feels like a few minutes and hours at the same time, Luke finds himself standing outside the house he’s been looking for. He’s sure it’s the right one, because he’s checked the address at least five times and he can see the name Clifford written on the door, but he can’t bring himself to actually walk up to it and ring the doorbell. So instead he just stands there, staring at the door until it opens.

“I don’t even need to ask if you’re Luke.” The red haired boy standing in the doorway smiles and Luke could swear he feels his heart stop for a few seconds because wow, he’s actually here and he’s actually hearing Michael’s voice and Michael is standing there, right in front of him, smiling like an idiot. “Well come on then, you’re gonna get sick if you stay there. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but it’s raining.” Luke nods, unable to speak, and walks up the path to the door, immediately being pulled in for a hug by the shorter boy.

“wow.” he mumbles, dropping his bag and wrapping his arms around Michael. “you’re actually real.” and then there’s a lump in his throat and he has to fight back tears because Michael’s there, Michael’s holding him and suddenly, all his worries seem so far away, suddenly nothing matters except for Michael.

“of course I am silly, and you’re cold.” Michael lets go of Luke and the taller almost whines at the loss of contact, but only to take his hands and pull him inside. “mum and dad are still at work and they won’t be home for hours.” Michael tells him, waiting for Luke to take his shoes off. “you might wanna get changed into something that isn’t wet and then we can make hot chocolate and cuddle.” Luke smiles, as if he’s stopped smiling even for a seconds since he got there, and Michael shows him his room before leaving, returning to the kitchen to make them hot chocolate.

Luke quickly gets changed but can’t bring himself to leave Michael’s room just yet, so he sits down on the unmade bed, resting his elbows on his knees. How many times have they talked about watching movies together, cuddle and drink hot chocolate? And now it’s actually happening. He never really thought it would, if he’s being completely honest, he never thought he’d ever get to met Michael, and now here he is.

“Are you coming or what Lucas?” Michael’s voice breaks the silence and Luke finally gets up, closing the door on his way out.

The clock on the wall above Luke’s head reads 07:30 am and he isn’t even sure why he’s awake at this time, all he knows is that he’s happy. For the first time in what feels like forever he’s completely happy.

Something moves on the other side of the room and when Luke turns his head he finds a still half asleep Michael walking towards him. Michael doesn’t say anything, he barely opens his eyes, but he pulls Luke’s covers aside and climbs into bed with him, wrapping his arms and legs around Luke’s taller body until he’s clinging to him like a koala.

“why are you awake?” Michael mumbles, face hidden in Luke’s shirt, making it hard for the younger boy to hear what he’s actually saying.

“just woke up.” Luke answers, keeping his voice down since he doesn’t really want to break the silence. “you clearly need some more sleep though.”

“no it’s fine, you’re awake so we can get up.” Michael turns his head slightly, so his ear is pressed to Luke’s chest instead. “I’m up.”

“I don’t wanna get up.” Luke says, looking back up at the sealing. “this is nice.”

“yeah.” Michael doesn’t say anything after that and Luke assumes he’s fallen asleep, but then he speaks up again. “hey Luke? Did you hear about the guy whose whole left side was cut off?”

“What? Oh god what happened?” Luke’s eyes widen and he looks down at Michael again, only to find the older boy smiling up at him, for the first time today actually having his eyes open.

“I don’t know, but he’s all right now.”

“ha ha very funny.” Luke groans, slightly embarrassed since he’s definitely heard that joke before and he still didn’t get it, but he still can’t help but feel all warm and fluffy inside when Michael giggles.

“I have more, wanna hear?”

“Actually, I’m feeling pretty tired now so why don’t we sleep some more?” Michael nods and closes his eyes again, soon falling asleep. Luke wraps his arms around Michael, unable to move much since he’s still got the shorter boy’s arms and legs keeping him in place, and closes his eyes.

And that’s how they end up spending most of their day, cuddling, sleeping and with Michael telling Luke a very lame joke every once in a while, and Luke has never been happier.
